Termination and replacement in the Management of the University of Huelva

The University of Huelva has arranged for the cessation of Manuel Jesús Pavón Lagares as manager of the institution and has appointed Francisco Gómez Gómez to that same position. The decision is formalized in two resolutions dated October 15, 2026, and published in the Official Gazette of the Government of Andalusia (BOJA) no. 204, of October 21, 2026. The two administrative acts are identified by text numbers 13696, for the cessation, and 13697, for the appointment.

BOJA no. 204, corresponding to Wednesday, October 21, 2026 (year XLVIII), inserts both resolutions in section 2, “Authorities and personnel,” within subsection 2.1, “Appointments, situations and incidents,” and under the heading dedicated to Universities. Each of the two texts occupies one page and appears on page 4 of the bulletin’s summary, which is edited with legal deposit SE-410/1979 and ISSN 2253-802X.

The two resolutions share the same date, issuing body, and purpose: the University of Huelva first resolves the departure of the head of Management and, immediately thereafter, the designation of his substitute. The joint publication in the same issue of the official bulletin places the handover in the administrative leadership of the Huelva campus within the same week of October.

Cessation of the acting manager

The first of the resolutions, dated October 15, 2026, “arranges for the cessation of Mr. Manuel Jesús Pavón Lagares from the position of Manager of this University.” The act is published as text no. 13696, with a length of one page, within the appointments and situations block of the BOJA.

The announcement is limited to formalizing the separation from the executive position, without the published summary text detailing the reasons or the effective date of the cessation.

Appointment of Francisco Gómez Gómez

The second resolution, also dated October 15, 2026, and from the same University of Huelva, “appoints Mr. Francisco Gómez Gómez to the position of Manager of this University.” It is identified as text no. 13697 and likewise occupies one page of the bulletin.

With this appointment, the Management—the administrative and economic leadership position of the academic institution—is filled, passing from the hands of Manuel Jesús Pavón Lagares to Francisco Gómez Gómez by virtue of two consecutive administrative acts.

A university block with several resolutions

The Universities heading of the same issue 204 gathers other movements of academic personnel, all of them dated October 16, 2026:

• University of Córdoba: appointment of Luis Sánchez Vázquez as Associate Professor (text no. 13771).

• University of Málaga: appointment of Aurora Garrido Moreno as University Professor (text no. 13786).

The change in the Management of the University of Huelva is, therefore, the only change in an administrative—non-teaching—management position within that block of the bulletin.

The change of manager affects the person who assumes the direction of the administrative and economic services of the University of Huelva, such that the appointment of Francisco Gómez Gómez has a direct impact on the ordinary management of the campus and the execution of its budget.
