Resolution published in the official bulletin

The Official Bulletin of the Province of A Coruña of 17 August 2026 publishes the resolution by which the Cee Town Council authorises the extension of the closing hours of establishments open to the public and the end time of open-air dances on the occasion of the celebration of the Festas da Xunqueira 2026, which took place between 13 and 16 August in the urban centre of Cee. The document, registered under file number 2026/G003/000837 and with antecedent 2026/U029/000036, was signed by the mayoress, Margarita Lamela Louzán, on 11 August 2026.

The resolution establishes that the maximum end time for the open-air dances on the nights of the designated days shall be 06:00 hours the following day. Furthermore, it expressly authorises an extension of 2 hours over the general closing hours for catering and leisure and entertainment establishments located in the parish of Cee. This extension is applicable exclusively to premises holding the corresponding enabling title, whether a licence or prior communication with the required documentation.

The authorisation is based on Law 10/2017, of 27 December, on public shows and recreational activities of Galicia, which confers on town councils the competence to authorise extensions or reductions to the general closing hours, in accordance with article 5.f) of this regulation. Specifically, article 9.1 of the Order of the First Vice-Presidency and Ministry of the Presidency, Justice and Tourism of 23 October 2020 provides that town councils may extend these hours during the celebration of popular festivals and open-air dances, provided that this is compatible with noise pollution regulations.

Article 9.4 of the same order establishes that extensions may not in any case exceed 2 hours with respect to the general closing hours. It is precisely this limit that the Cee Town Council applies in the present resolution.

The request from the festival committee

The request was submitted on 29 July 2026, registered under number 202699900001509, by Verónica Bonilla Ruso, on behalf of the Asociación Comisión de Festas da Xunqueira de Cee, organiser of the popular festival. The request specified the desire for the end time of the celebrations to be extended until 06:00 hours during the four nights of the festivities.

The prior regulations conditioning these extensions were established by Mayoral Resolution No. 1020/2025, of 10 December 2025, which determined the maximum number of natural days in 2026 on which hours could be extended in this municipal area. The specific dates were to be defined by a subsequent resolution, as is now specified for the Festas da Xunqueira.

Support for associative activity and the hospitality sector

In the body of the resolution, the Cee Town Council expresses its willingness to support and promote the activity of municipal associations, which make possible the celebration of festive events of great tradition in Galicia. These celebrations, according to the official text, have a positive impact on municipal, social and economic areas.

The local administration also emphasises its explicit support for the municipal hospitality sector, whose activity is reinforced by the extension of opening hours during festive nights. The resolution warns, in any case, that these extensions must be compatible with the application of noise pollution regulations, the rights of third parties and the operation of public services.

Notification and parliamentary control

The resolution includes a clause for publication in the Official Gazette of the Province of A Coruña for the general information of interested parties, as well as the obligation to notify those concerned, indicating the appeals available to them to challenge it. Furthermore, the Plenary of the Corporation will be informed at its first ordinary session.

The document was signed by the mayor Margarita Lamela Louzán and the municipal secretary, Rocío Hermida Cancela, in Cee, on 11 August 2026.
