The City Council of Castro del Río has definitively approved a credit modification file in the amount of 284,257.23 euros, intended to finance the roofing of the sports court and to grant subsidies to local entities and associations. The agreement, adopted by the Plenary on July 31, 2026, is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Córdoba number 166, dated August 27, 2026, pages 12713 and 12714.
The operation is processed as extraordinary credit GEX 6832/2026 and is fully financed by the liquid treasury surplus for general expenses, as recorded in the revenue application entries of the municipal budget. The publication is carried out for the purposes of article 169.1, by referral of article 177.2 of the Recast Text of the Law regulating Local Treasuries, approved by Royal Legislative Decree 2/2004, of March 5.
The roofing of the sports court
The majority of the credit, 194,757.23 euros, is allocated to program 3420 for the Villages Plan, under the item for the roofing of the sports court. This action constitutes the bulk of the budget modification and responds to a demand for the improvement of the municipality’s sports infrastructure.
Subsidies to local associations and entities
The remainder of the credit, 89,500 euros, is distributed as subsidies to about twenty associations and entities in the municipality, including:

Deadlines and appeals
An administrative appeal may be filed against the agreement before the Contentious-Administrative Chamber of the High Court of Justice of Andalusia, based in Granada, within two months from the publication of the announcement, in accordance with Article 46 of Law 29/1998, of July 13, on Contentious-Administrative Jurisdiction. The filing of the appeal shall not, by itself, suspend the effectiveness of the challenged agreement, pursuant to Article 171.3 of the Revised Text of Local Treasuries in relation to Article 113.3 of Law 7/1985, regulating the Bases of the Local Regime.
The document, electronically signed on August 26, 2026, by the mayor-president, Julio José Criado Gámiz, is available for consultation by the residents.
Impact for the municipality
The budget modification allows the City Council to simultaneously address a significant investment in sports infrastructure and sustain the local associative fabric, from social and health entities to social clubs (peñas), women’s collectives, and animal protection associations. Since it is financed by the treasury surplus, the operation does not increase municipal debt, which strengthens the council’s spending capacity without resorting to new debt.
