Castilla y León abre información pública para localizar víctimas en Trabadelo

The Regional Government of Castilla y León has opened the process to authorize actions for the location of Spanish Civil War victims in the local cemetery of Trabadelo (León), at the request of the Association for the Recovery of Historical Memory. The announcement subjects file MHD-2026-15 to public consultation for twenty business days and is published in the Official Gazette of Castilla y León (BOCYL) no. 195, dated October 7, 2026, pages 146 and 147, with the official reference BOCYL-D-07102026-195-24.

The file is being processed by the Directorate of Institutional Relations and External Action, under the Ministry of the Presidency, and is conducted under Article 18.4 of Law 20/2022, of October 19, on Democratic Memory, which requires these authorizations to be submitted for public consultation before a resolution is reached. The announcement was signed in Valladolid on October 2, 2026, by the Director of Institutional Relations and External Action, Ruth Andérez Alonso.

The specific scope of the intervention

The request precisely delimits the land on which the actions are intended to take place, a standard requirement for this type of file:

  • Municipality: Trabadelo.
  • Locality: Trabadelo.
  • Site: Local cemetery of Trabadelo.
  • Coordinates: latitude 42º 39’ 00.4" N and longitude 6º 52’ 48.5" W.

The official text refers to “location of victims” actions, the preliminary phase of prospecting and searching that democratic memory regulations require to be authorized before any intervention on the ground.

Who is promoting the action

The requesting entity is the Association for the Recovery of Historical Memory, with tax identification number G82871666, acting as the promoter of the file before the regional administration. The processing corresponds to the Directorate of Institutional Relations and External Action, the body that agrees to the public consultation and before which any interest in the procedure must be accredited.

Deadlines and channels for submitting allegations

The public consultation period is twenty business days starting from the day following the publication of the announcement, i.e., from October 8, 2026. During this period, the file may be consulted and allegations may be submitted at:

  • Directorate of Institutional Relations and External Action, Ministry of the Presidency, Santiago Alba street, Valladolid.
  • Office hours: from 9:00 to 11:00 hours throughout the public consultation period.
  • Telephone 983 411 100, extension 800283.
  • Email: memoriahistorica@jcyl.es.

A wave of files in El Bierzo and its surroundings

The Trabadelo announcement adds to a series of similar procedures published by the same body in recent weeks, several of them in municipalities within León:

  • MHD-2026-14, also in Trabadelo, locality of San Fiz do Seo, site Teso Mundín, requested by the Asociación Semillas de Memoria (BOCYL no. 191, October 1, 2026, pp. 114-115).
  • MHD-2026-11, in Villafranca del Bierzo, locality of Valtuille de Abajo, site Prado Grande (BOCYL no. 191, October 1, 2026, pp. 108-109).
  • MHD-2026-12, in Páramo del Sil, locality of Villamartín del Sil, site Sienra (BOCYL no. 191, October 1, 2026, pp. 110-111).
  • MHD-2026-13, in Cubillos del Sil, locality of Fresnedo, site Las Corradinas (BOCYL no. 191, October 1, 2026, pp. 112-113).
  • MHD-2026-10, in Montealegre de Campos (Valladolid), site Arroyo de Reguera, at the request of the Asociación Científica ArqueoAntro (BOCYL no. 171, September 3, 2026, pp. 86-87).

The coincidence of files in the Bierzo region reflects the drive of memorialist associations toward surveys in cemeteries and rural sites where the existence of mass graves is presumed.

The publication of this announcement opens the legal period for individuals, city councils, or affected groups to comment on an action affecting the local cemetery of Trabadelo. Once the public information period has passed, the Directorate of Institutional Relations and External Action may resolve the authorization, an essential step for the requesting association to begin localization work in the delimited area.
