Castelló definitively approves its Municipal Acoustic Plan

Por FactBox Admin

The Local Government Board of Castelló de la Plana has definitively approved the Municipal Acoustic Plan, which integrates the noise maps of the municipal district and the action plan against noise pollution. The agreement, adopted in an extraordinary session held on August 6, 2026, is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Castellón number 102, dated August 25, 2026, with reference 03689-2026 and file 136183/2025.

The definitive approval closes the administrative procedure of the instrument, which directly affects urban planning and hospitality activities by establishing admissible sound levels and corrective measures throughout the municipality. The document signed by the deputy mayor of El Grao, Ester Giner Hidalgo, by virtue of the delegation of the Mayoral Decree of July 23, 2026, will be sent to the Department of Environment, Infrastructure, Territory and Recovery of the Generalitat Valenciana.

Content of the approved plan

The Municipal Acoustic Plan consists of two technical reports and their annexes, which constitute the cartographic and regulatory basis of the instrument:

  • The report “Acoustic maps of the municipal district of Castelló de la Plana”, document number AAC230145rev3, dated April 2024, with two annexes and 10 maps.
  • The report “Noise Action Plan of Castelló. PAR Phase IV”, signed on September 26, 2025, with document number AAC240317.
  • The annex “Annex I: Quiet zones”, consisting of 16 maps.
  • The Synthesis Document of the Municipal Acoustic Plan, dated July 31, 2026, with document number 260164.

Scope and measures

The plan identifies the areas with the highest noise exposure and establishes actions to reduce it, with a special focus on traffic, leisure activities, and the hospitality sector. The delimitation of “quiet zones” will allow for the protection of spaces with lower noise pollution and guide future urban developments.

Processing and publication

The agreement provides for the submission and notification of the synthesis document to the Department of Environment, Infrastructure, Territory and Recovery, as well as the publication of the definitive approval in the official gazettes and on the municipal website. The entry into force of the plan will provide the municipality with its own regulatory framework regarding noise, aligned with state and regional regulations.

With this approval, Castelló has an acoustic management tool that will condition the granting of activity licenses, the organization of public space, and the corrective measures required of establishments, with the aim of improving the quality of life for residents.
