Castañar de Ibor submits its fire prevention plan for public review

Por FactBox Admin

The City Council of Castañar de Ibor (Cáceres) has initially approved its Municipal Action Plan for Forest Fire Risk (PAMIF) and has submitted it for public review for a period of thirty business days. The decision, adopted by the municipal Plenary in an ordinary session on July 20, 2026, is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Cáceres number 0168, dated September 2, 2026, with reference CVE BOP-2026-4136 (page 20381).

The plenary agreement was subject to the formal rectification of certain technical reservations, which the City Council’s Secretariat-Audit verified through a Diligence dated August 26, 2026, confirming the complete integration and technical correction of the document by the drafting assistance firm Obning Ingeniería.

Regulatory Framework and Background

The procedure is processed in accordance with Law 5/2014, of October 9, on Civil Protection and Emergency Management of Extremadura, and Law 7/1985, of April 2, Regulating the Bases of the Local Regime. The PAMIF is the instrument that establishes municipal prevention and response actions against forest fires in a high-risk area, making its approval key to the protection of the population and the forest.

The complete file, which includes the Technical Report, the Georeferenced Operational Cartography, and the Action Annexes, may be examined by interested parties during the public exhibition period.

How to Consult the File

The period of thirty business days is calculated from the day following the publication of the announcement in the official gazette. Consultations can be made through two channels:

  • In person: at the offices of the City Council Secretariat, at Plaza de España, no. 1, Monday to Friday, from 9:00 to 14:00 hours.
  • Electronic: at the Electronic Office and Transparency Portal, accessible at https://castanardeibor.sedelectronica.es/.

Submission of Allegations

Within the public information period, interested parties may submit allegations, claims, or suggestions, which shall be addressed to the Mayor’s Office-Presidency and may be filed by any of the means provided for in Article 16.4 of Law 39/2015, of October 1, on the Common Administrative Procedure of Public Administrations.

If no allegations or claims are submitted, the initial approval agreement will be understood as automatically elevated to final, without the need for a new plenary agreement, and will be forwarded to the Civil Protection Commission of Extremadura for official homologation and registry entry. The announcement is signed by the mayor-president, Verónica Díaz López.

The processing of this plan places Castañar de Ibor in a position to have an operational and approved fire prevention instrument, in a municipality located in a region of high forest risk. Citizen participation during the allegations period is the final opportunity to adjust the document before its definitive approval and entry into force.
