Cassà announces the Baccalaureate Research Awards with 1,000 euros

The Cassà de la Selva City Council has announced the Research Awards for 2nd year Baccalaureate for the 2026-2027 academic year, with a total endowment of 1,000 euros divided into two prizes of 500 euros. The call, approved by resolution on September 3, 2026, was published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Girona (no. 174, September 9, 2026), with the official reference BOP-2026_0_174_7881.
The objective is to reward the effort of second-year baccalaureate students who carry out quality research projects with the municipality of Cassà de la Selva as the area of study. The purpose, according to the rules, is to awaken vocations for study and research, foster a spirit of inquiry, and incentivize educational centers to motivate their students.
Endowment and procedure
The call is processed through a competitive bidding procedure and has an endowment of 1,000 euros charged to the budget application 411 3230 48000 (Research Project Awards Second Baccalaureate Cassà) of the 2027 budget. The summary has also been published in the National Grants Database (identifier 927854), in accordance with Law 38/2003, of November 17, General Law on Grants.
The projects are scored out of a total of 100 points, valued individually by each member of the jury, according to these criteria:
- Structure, presentation, writing, and linguistic quality: 20 points
- Objectives: 10 points
- General scientific methodology: 15 points
- Complexity of the subject matter: 10 points
- Originality and creativity: 15 points
- Interdisciplinary character: 5 points
- Discussion and conclusions: 15 points
- Documentary references: 10 points
Who can participate and how to apply
All students enrolled and studying in the second year of baccalaureate at a secondary education center during the current academic year are eligible to apply. The projects must meet these requirements:
- Deal with a topic related to the municipality, the population, or the environment of Cassà de la Selva
- Be an authentic and unpublished work, without plagiarism (proven by a responsible declaration)
- Have a minimum score of 8.5 (proven by a certificate from the institute)
- Be written in the Catalan language
The projects shall be submitted in digital version in PDF format through the form at www.cassa.cat/premistreballsderecerca, where the center’s certificate and the responsible declaration must also be attached. To ensure anonymity, the project must only contain the title, without any reference to the author or the educational center. Only one project per student may be submitted.
Jury, deadlines, and delivery
A single jury will be established, consisting of three members chosen by the Department of Education, with a secretary from the corporation’s staff. The tribunal will be composed of a president, a secretary with a voice but no vote, and two members, all with their respective substitutes. The appointment will be approved by mayoral decree and the jury’s decision will be final, with the possibility of declaring the call void if no work reaches the minimum quality level.
The deadline for submitting applications will be from January 8 to 23, 2027 (both inclusive). The resolution must be notified within a period of three months, on April 23, 2027, and the award ceremony will take place on Saturday, April 24, 2027, at 5:30 p.m. The competent body for the instruction is the Department of Education, while the resolution corresponds to the Mayor’s Office, in accordance with the minutes of the qualifying jury.
The call, signed by Mayor Pau Presas Bertran, represents an opportunity for baccalaureate students in the region to deepen their knowledge of their municipality and, at the same time, a stimulus for educational centers to promote research among students. The award-winning works contribute to highlighting the history, culture, and environment of Cassà de la Selva.
