Por FactBox Admin

The Plenary of the City Council of Casar de Palomero, in an extraordinary session held on August 19, 2026, agreed to definitively approve the Municipal Action Plan for Forest Fire Risk in Casar de Palomero (PAMIF). The agreement is made public through an announcement signed by the mayor, Óscar Fernández Domínguez, and published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Cáceres number 0163, dated August 26, 2026, with reference BOP-2026-4039 (page 19802).
The plan received a favorable report from the Permanent Civil Protection Commission of the Autonomous Community of Extremadura, in a session held on August 5, 2026. With this definitive approval, the municipality completes the administrative process that makes the PAMIF the municipal reference instrument for the preparation, prevention, and response to forest fire risks.
A key instrument in a high-risk area
The PAMIF serves as the tool that guarantees the municipality’s integration into the public Civil Protection system and coordination with higher-level plans. Its development was carried out by the company AQUADUCTO INGENIEROS Y SERVICIOS EXTREMEÑOS, S.L., which drafted the document submitted for reporting and approval.
The plan defines prevention actions and response guidelines for a potential forest fire within the municipal district, an especially relevant aspect in a high-risk territory such as the Las Hurdes region, where Casar de Palomero is located.
Content and scope of the plan
The approved document outlines the mechanisms for preparation and coordination in the face of emergencies, as well as action protocols and available resources. Among its main elements are:
- The integration of the municipality into the public Civil Protection system.
- Coordination with higher-level plans regarding forest fires.
- Protocols for prevention, detection, and response to the risk.
- The definition of information and warning mechanisms for the population.
Publication and access to the document
The announcement, dated in Casar de Palomero on August 20, 2026, is published for general knowledge. The full text of the PAMIF is available on the transparency portal of the electronic headquarters of the City Council of Casar de Palomero (casardepalomero.sedelectronica.es), where residents can consult the complete content of the plan.
With this definitive approval, Casar de Palomero reinforces its capacity for prevention and response to forest fires, providing the municipality with an operational instrument that improves the safety of the population and the natural environment in one of the highest-risk areas of the province of Cáceres.
