Cartes expands budget for new sports facilities in Mijarojos

The Cartes City Council has definitively approved budget modification file 9/2026, under the credit supplement modality, intended to finance the modification of the works project for the “Execution of new sports facilities in the town of Mijarojos”. The decision is published in the Official Gazette of Cantabria number 177, dated September 14, 2026, with official reference CVE-2026-7149 and file 1194/2026.

The municipal plenary agreed on the initial approval of the file in a session held on July 31, 2026, submitting it to public consultation for a period of fifteen business days. After this period elapsed without any claims being filed, the agreement is considered automatically definitively approved, in accordance with articles 169 and 177.2 of Royal Legislative Decree 2/2004, of March 5, which approves the Revised Text of the Law regulating Local Treasuries, and articles 20 and 38 of Royal Decree 500/1990, of April 20.

A supplement of 579,022 euros

Budget modification 9/2026 incorporates a credit supplement for a total amount of 579,022.12 euros, which is divided between two chapters of the expenditure budget:

• Chapter VI (real investments): increase of 502,025.90 euros, increasing from 2,845,787.45 to 3,347,813.35 euros.
• Chapter IX (financial liabilities): increase of 76,996.22 euros, increasing from 83,333.34 to 160,329.56 euros.

In the revenue budget, the increase is fully financed through Chapter VIII (financial assets), which increases from 1,884,006.71 to 2,463,028.83 euros.

A budget exceeding 9.4 million

With this operation, the consolidated municipal budget of Cartes increases from 8,851,553.75 euros to 9,430,575.87 euros, an increase of nearly 579,000 euros that strengthens the municipality’s investment capacity. The remaining chapters of the expenditure budget remain unchanged, with definitive credits maintained in chapters I (3,013,832.78), II (2,377,914.19), III (38,000.00), IV (487,686.00), V (0.00), VII (5,000.00), and VIII (0.00).

The operation is part of the council’s investment policy to provide the town of Mijarojos with new sports infrastructure, a project that had already been the subject of previous actions in the municipality, such as the definitive approval of the urbanization on El Rodil Street and Camino del Economato, also in Mijarojos, published in the BOC on August 26, 2026.

Signature and publication

The document, which occupies pages 45760 and 45761 of the Official Gazette of Cantabria, was signed in Cartes on September 8, 2026, by the mayor, Mª Lorena Cueto Cuesta. With the publication in the official gazette and on the City Council’s notice board, the budget modification comes fully into effect, allowing the council to have the necessary resources to undertake the planned sports works.

The budget expansion represents a significant boost for the provision of sports facilities in Mijarojos, one of the towns in the municipality, and reinforces the financial position of the Cartes City Council to execute its investment commitments for the 2026 fiscal year.
