Carballo opens 2026 grants for popular and patronal festivals

Por FactBox Admin

The Carballo City Council opens the call for grants for the celebration of the 2026 Popular Festivals, with a total budget of €27,500 and an aid of €500 per festival day. The bases were approved by the Local Government Board in an ordinary session on August 24, 2026, and are published in the Official Gazette of the Province of A Coruña number 168, dated September 3, 2026, under announcement number 2026/5704.

The purpose of the call is to collaborate with the festival committees of the municipality linked to a specific territory for the realization of popular, traditional and/or patronal festivals of cultural root, or already consolidated gastronomic festivals, during the year 2026 until October 31. The activities must be open to all citizens, take place in accessible spaces for public or neighborhood use, and have free admission.

Who can apply for the grants

Grants may be requested by legally constituted entities with a registered office in Carballo and registered in the council, as well as groups of natural or legal persons, public or private, or collectives from Carballo registered or with residency in the municipality, provided they are linked to the territory where the festival is celebrated. The requirements include:

  • Developing a program of festive activities within the specified date period.
  • Being non-profit and ensuring that the subsidized activities do not pursue a profit motive.
  • Having no pending justification for any grant from the council from the previous year.
  • Having submitted the responsible declaration or permit request prior to the celebration of the festival.
  • Having civil liability insurance in the name of the organizing entity or group.

Amount and award criteria

The aid will be determined according to the number of festive days on which a verbena or concert is held with a performance by an orchestra, a live musical group, or a soloist of consolidated renown, excluding soloists, duos, and trios of musical animation or DJs. An aid of €500 per festival day is established, with a global budget of €27,500 charged to the budgetary application 3380.48901 “Grants for neighborhood and parish festivals” of the General Budget of the Council.

The budget of the expenses of the presented program must be more than double the amount of the grant, and the municipal grant shall not exceed 50% of the total budget of the project. The grants are incompatible with other funding from the Carballo City Council, although they are compatible with those granted by other administrations, provided that the sum does not exceed the total cost of the program.

Application and eligible expenses

The application period begins the day following the publication of the call summary in the BOP, via the National Grants Database, and ends on November 3, 2026. Applications shall be submitted through the electronic office of the Carballo City Council, or at the General Registry in the case of natural persons or groups, using the form that will be prepared by the council.

Eligible expenses are considered to be those derived from the contracting of musical or cultural activities, the rental of infrastructure, insurance, copyright payments, advertising, and pyrotechnics. Payment will be made via bank transfer in a single payment, without the need to present additional justification, as this is part of the documentation accompanying the application. The procedure will follow an abbreviated regime in accordance with article 19.2 of Law 9/2007, of June 13, on grants in Galicia, with the instruction handled by the technical services of Culture and the resolution proposal made by the Councilwoman for Festivals.

The call represents direct support for neighborhood associations and groups that maintain the festive tradition of the municipality, financing the fairs and concerts that enliven the parishes and neighborhoods of Carballo throughout the year. The bases were signed on August 31, 2026, by the mayor, José Daniel Pérez López.
