Caravia opens three social emergency grants of 700 euros for families with minors
Por FactBox Admin

The Caravia City Council has announced social emergency financial aid intended for families with dependent minors, on a competitive basis and with a maximum of three beneficiaries. The summary of the call is published in the Official Gazette of the Principality of Asturias (BOPA) no. 204, dated October 21, 2026, in section IV (Local Administration, City Councils), with code 2026-08441 and identifier BDNS 935097.
Purpose and framework of the call
The aid consists of single payments to cover ordinary expenses directly linked to the minors: food, clothing, general housing utilities not previously subsidized, books, extracurricular activities, and school supplies. The economic requirement is that the maximum annual income of the family unit does not exceed the latest amount set by the INE as the poverty risk threshold.
The call is supported by articles 17.3.b and 20.8.a of the General Subsidies Law 38/2003, of November 17, and is framed within the direct subsidy from the General Directorate of Social Rights of the Principality of Asturias to the Caravia council to manage the emergency aid program for families with minors during 2026. The full text is available in the National Subsidies Database.
Three grants of 700 euros and access requirements
The number of grants is limited and the individual allocation is fixed in the summary:
- Maximum of 3 grants, as a single payment.
- Amount of 700 euros per grant.
- Recipients: families or cohabitation units with dependent minors, with effective cohabitation and without deprivation or suspension of parental authority.
- Required situation: severe material deprivation according to the AROPE indicator of the Europe 2020 Strategy, which combines poverty risk, severe material deprivation, and low employment intensity.
The requirements that applicants must meet are:
- Have minors under age as dependents in the family unit, including de facto, pending, and formalized foster care.
- Be registered in the municipality of Caravia uninterruptedly for at least six months prior to the date of application.
- Not receive the vital supplement to the basic social salary for families with minors and youth.
- Prove the effective schooling of the minors in the cohabitation unit.
- Be up to date with tax obligations and the Social Security.
- Not exceed the poverty risk threshold set by the INE.
In cases of joint custody, if both parents submit an application, the minor will be counted only in the family unit with the lower income.
Deadline, documentation, and justification of expenditure
The submission period is 15 business days starting from the day following the publication of the summary in the BOPA, meaning the count extends until the first fortnight of November 2026. Applications, signed and with the attached documentation, must be submitted to the Registry of the Caravia City Council or through any of the means specified in Article 16.4 of Law 39/2015, of October 1.
The required documentation includes:
- Application according to the official model and its annex.
- Historical collective census certificate (volante de empadronamiento), if data consultation is not authorized.
- Family book or other document proving the composition of the family unit.
- ID (DNI) of all persons over 16 years of age.
- Proof of income for the last six months, excluding municipal social need grants, emergency grants for families with minors from the city council, and dependency benefits.
- Employment history (vida laboral), in case data consultation is not authorized.
- Guardianship and custody document in cases of separation or divorce, and foster care documentation where applicable.
- Creditor form.
Expenses are justified with invoices or receipts. If all invoices are already paid at the time of applying for the aid, the provided documentation is sufficient; if payments remain pending, proof of payment must be submitted to the city council by December 31 of the year of granting. The summary was signed in Caravia on October 14, 2026, by the Mayor’s Office.
Impact for the council’s households
The call arrives with a narrow margin: only three families will be able to access the 700 euros, an amount intended to cover current expenses for food, utilities, or school supplies. For households in severe material deprivation within the council, the decisive requirement will be to prove continuous census registration for six months and an income below the INE threshold, in addition to the effective schooling of the minors.
