Cantabria distributes 191,329 euros for Civil Protection and Local Police vehicles

The Ministry of Presidency, Justice, Security and Administrative Simplification of the Government of Cantabria has granted 191,329.49 euros in subsidies to 16 city councils in the community for the acquisition of Civil Protection and Local Police vehicles during the year 2026. The decision is formalized in the Resolution of August 13, 2026, published in the Official Gazette of Cantabria number 173, of September 8, 2026, with reference CVE-2026-6989.

The call is framed within Order PRE/20/2026, of February 20, published in BOC number 40 of February 27, 2026, and is based on the regulatory bases established by Order PRE/11/2025, of March 11 (BOC of March 18, 2025, number 51). The expenditure is financed from budget item 02.04.134M.761 of the General Budgets of Cantabria for 2026, and the resolution, signed by Minister María Isabel Urrutia de los Mozos, exhausts the administrative route.

Beneficiaries and amounts

The aid is distributed between Civil Protection volunteers and Local Police, with a total of 75,062.37 euros for the first group and 116,267.12 euros for the second. The beneficiary city councils and their amounts are:

• San Vicente de la Barquera: 7,800.00 €

Inadmissibility, withdrawal and waiver

The procedure, processed at the proposal of the General Directorate of Security and Citizen Protection, was not without incidents. The resolution declares inadmissible the application from the City Council of Cabezón de la Sal, which submitted its request after the deadline, and considers the City Council of Polanco to have withdrawn, as it did not correct the required documentation.

Additionally, the City Council of Cartes submitted its waiver of the subsidy within the granted period, which freed up a credit of 3,732.87 euros. According to the file, this remaining amount is not prorated among the beneficiaries because the procedural moment for prorating precedes the provisional resolution proposal, published on May 13, 2026, in BOC number 136.

Justification and appeals

Beneficiaries must justify compliance with the conditions and the achievement of the objectives in accordance with Article 9 of Order PRE/20/2026 and Article 31 of Law 10/2006, of July 17, on Subsidies of Cantabria. The resolution may be optionally appealed for reversal before the counselor within one month, or challenged directly before the contentious-administrative jurisdiction within two months from the notification.

The financial injection will allow municipalities to renew the vehicle fleet of their emergency and security services, strengthening the response capacity of Civil Protection and Local Police throughout the autonomous community.
