Cantabria appoints probationary civil servants for new Secondary school teachers

The Regional Ministry of Education, Vocational Training and Universities has appointed as trainee civil servants the candidates selected in the competitive examination for entry into the teaching bodies, through Order EDU/46/2026, dated September 8, 2026. The resolution, signed by the regional minister Sergio Silva Fernández, is published in the Official Gazette of Cantabria number 178, dated September 16, 2026, and takes economic and administrative effect from September 1, 2026.

The appointment is part of the selection procedure convened by Order EDU/12/2025, dated March 27, published in the BOC on April 2, 2025. The lists of selected candidates were made public by the Selection Committees on July 27 on a provisional basis and on July 31 on a definitive basis, in accordance with base 8.3.6 of the call.

Affected bodies and specialties

The list of trainee civil servants covers three teaching bodies and dozens of specialties, from general Secondary subjects to Vocational Training and language teaching:

• Body 0590 – Secondary Education Teachers, with specialties such as Philosophy, Geography and History, Mathematics, Biology and Geology, Drawing, German, Physical Education, Educational Guidance, Technology, Computer Science and numerous branches of Vocational Training (Business Administration, Personal Image, Vehicle Maintenance, Mechanical Manufacturing, Agricultural Production, Electrotechnical Systems, Electrotechnical Installations, Cooking and Pastry, Aesthetics, Hairdressing, Welding, among others).
• Body 0592 – Teachers of Official Language Schools, with the specialty of English.
• Body 0598 – Specialist Teachers in Singular Sectors of Vocational Training, which includes Cooking and Pastry, Aesthetics, Machining and Machine Maintenance, Pattern Making and Dressmaking, Hairdressing, Catering Services and Welding.

Score correction and internship phase

Following the deadline for the submission of documentation, the order modifies the score of the candidate Llano Ríos, Miguel, from the Computer Science specialty, who remains in the same position published on July 31 as a definitive selection. All appointees must complete the internship phase in the Autonomous Community of Cantabria.

The selection of provisional destinations was carried out electronically between August 11 and 17, 2026, with provisional destinations assigned to all interested parties. Candidates who do not report to their destination will be understood to have waived their participation in the competitive examination.

Regime and subsequent procedures

The applicable regime shall be that established by the current legislation for civil servants in training, effective from September 1, 2026. Those appointed must declare, under oath or promise, that they do not incur the causes of incompatibility provided for in Law 53/1984, of December 26.

The appointment does not presuppose the completion of the selection process: once the training phase has ended and the aptitude of all candidates has been declared, the file will be approved by a new order that will be published in the BOC and sent to the Ministry of Education, Vocational Training and Sport for the appointment and issuance of the career civil servant titles. An appeal for reversal may be filed against the order within one month, or a contentious-administrative appeal within two months of its publication.

With this resolution, the new teachers of Cantabria begin their professional careers in the region’s classrooms, a decisive step to cover the teaching needs of Cantabrian educational centers in the course that has just begun.
