Cantabria appoints 32 family doctors as permanent staff and allocates their positions
Por FactBox Admin

The Ministry of Health of the Government of Cantabria has appointed 32 individuals who passed the selection process as permanent statutory staff in the category of Primary Care Family Physician of Health Institutions and has allocated a position to each of them. The decision is published in the Official Gazette of Cantabria number 208, dated October 29, 2026, section 2.1 (Appointments, cessations, and other situations), pages 55341 to 55343, with official reference CVE-2026-8430. The resolution was signed in Santander on October 22, 2026, by the Minister of Health, César Pascual Fernández.
The framework: a process opened in 2022
The appointment is issued under Order SAN/28/2022, of December 28, which called for the selective tests for access, through the competitive examination system, to positions of this statutory category in the Autonomous Community of Cantabria. The resolution is adopted based on the proposal submitted by the Management Directorate of the Cantabrian Health Service and in accordance with the provisions of Base 9 of the call.
The text resolves two issues in a single administrative act: the appointment as permanent statutory staff of the selected applicants and the allocation of the offered positions with the specific assignment appearing in the annex of the resolution. The allocated destination is definitive, according to the sixth section.
As context, the BOC had published another act of the same category on October 28: the exclusion of an applicant from the process called by Order SAL/34/2025, of December 29, for having obtained the status of permanent statutory staff in another health service (CVE-2026-8343).
Thirty-two appointments and their destinations
The annex, corresponding to the open track, lists the 32 applicants in order of precedence, with surnames and first name, partially hidden ID number (DNI), destination management, position code, and locality. The territorial distribution is as follows:
- Santander: six positions (Inés Hernando García, Laura Sainz de la Maza Herrero and Diego San José de la Fuente in the SUAP; Cristina Concellón García, Ana Gutiérrez Pérez de Lis and Inés Sánchez Martín as 061 emergency doctors).
- Meruelo: five positions (Andrea de la Cal Núñez, Sara Díaz-Salazar de la Flor, Adrián Herrería Lambert, Erico Abreut Olsen and Eva Galindo Cantalejo).
- Renedo de Piélagos: two positions in the EAP Bajo Pas (David Sánchez Andrés and Patricia Bahillo Cagigal).
- Ampuero: two positions in the Bajo Asón (Juan Berián González and Milagros Arias Lago).
- Torrelavega: two positions in the EAP Torrelavega Centro (M. Ángeles Tobalina Segura and Leticia Gómez Ruiz).
- Sarón: two positions in the EAP Pisueña Cayón (Carlos Gracia Alloza and María Alonso Santiago).
- San Vicente de la Barquera: two positions (Ignacio García Terán and M. Dolores Martín Nicolau).
- One position in each of these destinations: Castro Urdiales (Alicia Ramos Martín), Colindres (Daniel Martínez Revuelta), Santa Cruz de Bezana (Ana Arroyo Soto), Santoña (Andrea Valdor Cerro), Gama (Alexandra del Rey Rozas), Cabezón de la Sal (Victoria Ruiz Cuevas) and Los Corrales de Buelna (Cristina Varela César).
- Four area positions without a specified town: Area I (Gabriela Huerta Aranda), Area II (Sara Bustillo de la Hoz and María Tomé Pérez) and Area III (Desire María Velarde Herrera).
The first person on the list by order of priority is Alicia Ramos Martín, assigned to the EAP Castro Urdiales Norte.
Deadlines for taking office and appeals process
The taking of office must be carried out at the Management Directorate to which the assigned position is attached, within one month from the day following the publication of the resolution in the Official Gazette of Cantabria. Those who do not take office within this period will lose the rights derived from their participation in the process, except in cases of justified force majeure or impossibility communicated and assessed through a reasoned resolution by the head of the Department of Health.
Those who already hold the status of permanent statutory personnel in the same category and, where applicable, specialty, may not take office, as they fail to meet the participation requirement of section 1.g) of Base 2 of the call. The resolution serves as notification to the interested parties in accordance with Article 45 of Law 39/2015, of October 1.
An optional appeal for reversal may be filed against the act before the Counselor of Health within one month, or a contentious-administrative appeal may be filed before the Contentious-Administrative Chamber of the High Court of Justice of Cantabria within two months, in both cases from the day following its publication.
Impact
The act consolidates 32 family physician positions within the staff of Cantabrian health centers, with assignments distributed among the large urban centers, the Santander health areas, and the rural zones of the interior and the coast. This reinforcement has two simultaneous effects: it provides stability to the selected professionals and expands the healthcare coverage for Primary Care users.
