Cantabria appoints permanent specialist in Preventive Medicine and Public Health

The Ministry of Health of the Government of Cantabria has resolved the appointment of Permanent Statutory Personnel in the category of Area Specialist Physician in Preventive Medicine and Public Health for Health Institutions of the Autonomous Community, with the allocation of the corresponding position. The decision, signed on August 24, 2026, by the Minister of Health, César Pascual Fernández, is published in the Official Gazette of Cantabria number 171, dated September 4, 2026, via the resolution with reference CVE-2026-6944.

The process is part of the selective tests convened by Order SAL/48/2023, of December 26, which regulated access, through the competitive examination system (concurso-oposición), to positions of this statutory category in the community’s health institutions. The resolution is issued at the proposal of the Management Directorate of the Cantabrian Health Service, in accordance with the provisions of base 9 of the call.

The appointed person and their destination

The allocated position corresponds to the applicant selected in the open category, with a permanent destination in the Specialized Care Management of Area I:

• Alba Gasque Satrústegui (DNI *3260), appointed as Permanent Statutory Personnel in the category of Area Specialist Physician in Preventive Medicine and Public Health.
• Position allocated at the Marqués de Valdecilla University Hospital, in Santander.

Deadlines and conditions for taking office

The taking of office must be carried out at the Management Directorate to which the position is assigned, within a period of one month starting from the day following the publication of the resolution in the Official Gazette of Cantabria. Those who do not take office within that period will lose the rights derived from their participation in the selection process, except in cases of justified force majeure or impossibility communicated and assessed through a reasoned resolution.

Furthermore, those who already hold the status of permanent statutory personnel in the same category and specialty may not take office, as they fail to meet the participation requirement established in base 2 of the call order. The allocated destination shall be permanent.

Appeals and notification

The resolution serves as notification to the interested parties, in accordance with Article 45 of Law 39/2015, of October 1, on the Common Administrative Procedure. An optional appeal for reversal may be filed before the Minister of Health within one month, or a contentious-administrative appeal may be filed before the Contentious-Administrative Chamber of the High Court of Justice of Cantabria within two months, counted from the day following its publication.

The filling of this position reinforces the healthcare staff of the Preventive Medicine and Public Health specialty at the region’s main hospital, with a direct impact on epidemiological surveillance and healthcare prevention in Cantabria.
