Cantabria sets October 9 as the date for the first Family Medicine exam

The Government of Cantabria has approved the final list of candidates admitted to the selection process for the Higher Faculty Body, specialty of Family and Community Medicine, and has scheduled the first eliminatory exercise for October 9, 2026. The decision is published in the extraordinary Official Gazette of Cantabria no. 17, dated September 23, 2026, via the resolution with reference CVE-2026-7452, which also appoints the qualifying board and confirms that no persons have been excluded.

Six admitted and no exclusions

The resolution approves Annex I with the final list of admitted candidates, for meeting the requirements of the call, and declares Annex II with no persons excluded after the appeals period. The six admitted candidates are:

• Juan Ignacio Pozo Menéndez
• Cristina Saldaña Ruiz
• Ana Úbeda Navarro
• Francisco José Vara Sancho
• Verónica Vara Sancho

The process derives from the call approved by Order PRE/66/2026, of June 2, published in the Official Gazette of Cantabria no. 110, of June 10, for entry via the open competitive examination. The resolution was signed in Santander on September 21, 2026, by the Director General of Public Service, Isabel Barragán Bohigas, by delegation of the Councilor for Presidency, Justice, Security, and Administrative Simplification.

Composition of the qualifying board

The selection body is configured with the following members:

• Chairperson titular: Mónica Malo Cerro; substitute: Elena Gurbindo Mediavilla.
• Titular members: María Ángeles Gutiérrez Íñiguez, Yolanda María Vendrell Salum, Inmaculada Gálvez García, María del Carmen Gómez Carrera, and Juan Pablo Álvarez de Soto.
• Substitute members: José Miguel Armona Aquerreta, Patricia Oceja Setién, Nuria Galindo González, José Manuel Fernández Ibáñez, and Myriam Martínez Muñoz.
• Secretary titular: Francisco José Santos Casuso; substitute: Ana López Velasco.

Venue, time, and classroom of the first exercise

The first eliminatory exercise will be held on October 9, 2026, at 4:15 PM in the Nautical Fishing Training School/Center building, located at Severiano Ballesteros St. no. 14, Santander, next to the Cantabrian Maritime Museum. Candidates must bring a valid National Identity Document to classroom 17, on the ground floor, where the roll call will take place at 4:00 PM.

Against the resolution, which exhausts administrative remedies, a contentious-administrative appeal may be filed before the Contentious-Administrative Chamber of the High Court of Justice of Cantabria within two months from the day following its publication, or optionally, a motion for reconsideration within one month.

The call for applications reinforces the incorporation of specialized medical personnel in primary care within the autonomous community, a field with sustained healthcare pressure. The schedule is now finalized: with the definitive lists firm and the tribunal constituted, the process enters its examination phase, and the six admitted candidates will compete on October 9 for their continuity in the competitive examination process.
