Cantabria awards 14 environmental agent positions and leaves another 14 vacant

The Ministry of Presidency, Justice, Security and Administrative Simplification of the Government of Cantabria has resolved the merit-based competition for the provision of job positions for the Natural Environment Auxiliary Technical Corps, Environmental Agents scale, belonging to Subgroup C1. Order PRE/138/2026, of September 16, published in the Official Gazette of Cantabria number 181, of September 21, 2026 (reference CVE-2026-7295), awards fourteen destinations and declares fourteen others vacant. The regulation will take effect for the start of the calculation of the deadlines for cessation and taking possession on September 28, 2026.

The process stems from Order PRE/52/2026, of May 11 (Official Gazette of Cantabria number 91, of May 14), which called for the competition under reference Call 2026/01. The Evaluation Commission was designated through resolutions of the counselor dated July 24 and August 4 (BOC number 146, of July 31, and number 150, of August 6), and the proposed resolution was submitted on September 14, 2026. The order is issued under Decree 26/2017, of April 20, and is signed by the counselor with delegation to the Director General of Public Service, Isabel Barragán Bohigas (Resolution of December 18, 2018).

The call is not exempt from litigation: Order PRE/52/2026 was challenged through an administrative-law appeal, Abbreviated Procedure number 236/2026 of the Administrative Litigation Section of the Court of First Instance of Santander, filed by three applicants and whose summons to interested parties was published in the Official Gazette of Cantabria on September 10, 2026 (reference 2026/7087).

The fourteen awarded destinations

Annex I of the order makes public the list of positions awarded to career civil servants, all of them with the designation “Natural Environment Agent (N1, N2, SE)”:

Annex II declares the following positions vacant, with the same designation of Natural Environment Agent:

• 4166, 4170, 4175, 4178 and 4180
• 8761 and 8764
• 9926, 9930 and 9931

Deadlines for cessation and taking possession

• The deadline for taking possession of the new destination is three business days if it does not involve a change of residence, and one month if it entails a change of residence or reentry into active service.
• The cessation of duties must take place within three business days following the date on which the order takes effect.
• The competent body may defer the cessation for service needs for a maximum of 20 business days.
• Awarded destinations are non-renounceable, unless the official has obtained another destination in a public call with coinciding possession deadlines, in which case they must choose and communicate their decision within three days.
• The award to personnel in a situation other than active service implies their reentry.

Notification and appeals

The publication of the order in the Official Gazette of Cantabria serves as notification to the interested parties, in accordance with the eighth base of Decree 26/2017, of April 20, and article 45 of Law 39/2015, of October 1. An administrative-law appeal may be filed against Order PRE/138/2026 before the Administrative-Law Section of the Court of First Instance of Santander within two months, or optionally, a request for reversal before the same body within one month.

The resolution closes the award phase of Call 2026/01 and sets the calendar that will move fourteen natural environment agents to their new destinations at the end of September, while half of the offered positions remain vacant. For the applicants and for the community’s natural environment services, the relevant data is twofold: the effective coverage of only fourteen positions and the existence of an open judicial proceeding against the call that gave rise to these appointments.
