Cangas del Narcea approves budget modification 18/2026

The Cangas del Narcea City Council has definitively approved budget modification 18/2026, in the form of a transfer of credits between different expenditure areas. The agreement, adopted by the Municipal Plenary in an ordinary session on June 25, 2026, is published in the Official Gazette of the Principality of Asturias number 161, dated August 20, 2026, within section IV of Local Administration.

The operation reorganizes a total of €273,567.86 among different items, with a direct impact on the municipal services of the council. The largest allocation is destined for the fire fund subsidy, followed by improvements to electrical installations and the replacement of infrastructure.

Destination of funds

The budget modification increases three expenditure applications and reduces two items to finance them. The credit increases are as follows:

• Fire fund subsidy (application 1721 2270): €207,884.00
• Electrical installations improvement subsidy (application 450 61905): €54,722.25
• Infrastructure replacement investment (application 450 61900): €10,961.61

The total of the increases amounts to €273,567.86, which is offset by decreases in other items.

Financing of the operation

To balance the budget, the Plenary reduces two expenditure applications:

• Subsidiary execution of the Villar de Bergame wall (application 929 22604): €200,000.00
• Expenses for transitional and/or unforeseen situations (application 929 22699): €73,567.86

The total amount of the decreases, €273,567.86, coincides exactly with that of the increases, so the operation remains budget-neutral.

Processing and approval

The file was submitted for public review via an announcement published in the Official Gazette of the Principality of Asturias number 129, dated July 7, 2026, for a period of fifteen days, from July 8 to 30 inclusive. After this period passed without any allegations being presented, according to the certification issued by the Acting Secretary contained in the file, the modification is considered definitively approved.

The processing complies with the provisions of articles 179.4 and 169.1 of the consolidated text of the Law Regulating Local Treasuries, approved by Royal Legislative Decree 2/2004, of March 5, as well as the current budget execution bases. The announcement was signed in Cangas del Narcea on August 5, 2026, by the Acting Mayor.

Relevance for the council

The final approval of this budget modification allows the council to reinforce fire prevention and extinguishing, an essential service in a municipality with a vast rural and forest area such as Cangas del Narcea, as well as to improve municipal electrical installations. The reallocation of funds from subsidiary execution and unforeseen expense items ensures that resources are directed toward priority needs without increasing the City Council’s debt.
