Canet de Mar convoca dues llicències per a parades de castanyes i moniatos

The Canet de Mar City Council has approved the bases and the public call for the granting of two temporary occupation licenses of the public domain intended for the installation of chestnut and sweet potato vending stalls during the autumn and winter season of 2026. The decision was adopted through Decree no. 2026/2011 of the 4th Deputy Mayor’s Office, dated September 7, 2026, and is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Barcelona on September 10, 2026 (file 2334/2026, CVE 202610139387).

The call is framed within article 57 of the Autonomous Decree 336/1988, of October 17, which approves the Regulation of the assets of local entities, and aims to guarantee the principles of objectivity, publicity, and competition when there is more than one applicant. The domain occupation is characterized as precarious possession and is essentially revocable for reasons of public interest, and the granted license shall not be transferable, in accordance with article 92.2 of Law 33/2003, on the Assets of Public Administrations.

Locations and occupation period

The two stalls may be installed in the following locations, with a maximum of one request per applicant:

  • Riera Sant Domènec
  • Riera Gavarra with Ronda Sant Elm

The license is granted for the period between October 1 and December 31, 2026, both inclusive, coinciding with the festivities of the Castanyada and All Saints’ Day. If, due to unforeseen circumstances, it is not possible to grant the occupation in the planned locations, the municipal technical services may designate an alternative one, without right to any compensation.

Fees and guarantee

The occupation of the public domain shall be subject to the payment of the current fee for the private use of the public domain, established in Fiscal Ordinance number 13, article 6, section A, heading 3, point 2, which sets €52.48 per square meter per month. The amount to be paid will be the result of the following operation:

  • Fee (€52.48) × 3 months × m² of the stall

Additionally, the beneficiary must establish a definitive guarantee of 50 euros at the Municipal Treasury, in cash, bank guarantee, or surety insurance, to guarantee the correct restoration of municipal assets. This deposit will be returned once the installation is removed and it is verified that the public domain has not been affected.

Submission of applications and draw

Natural or legal persons with full capacity to act and without prohibitions to contract with public administrations may submit the application electronically to the City Council’s entry Registry, indicating the order of preference for the two locations. The deadline will be 10 business days starting from the day after the last publication of the call in the BOPB and on the municipal e-Board.

The award will be made by draw by lot in a public act before the Awarding Board, in the Room Annex to the Mayor’s Office, at 9:30 hours on the fifth business day following the end of the deadline. The person who finishes in first place will obtain the location chosen as their first preference, and the second will obtain the remaining one; the rest will remain on a waiting list to cover possible withdrawals.

Conditions of the authorization

The awardees must comply with a series of technical and security requirements:

  • Have an up-to-date insurance policy and be registered for the IAE (Economic Activities Tax) or census registration.
  • The stall must operate autonomously, without connection to the municipal electrical network, with a valid electrical certificate and, if applicable, a low-noise power generator.
  • In the event of operating with butane or propane gas, a valid installation certificate will be required.
  • Have, at a minimum, one fire extinguisher with current maintenance and guarantee the solidity and safety of the removable structure.

The call, signed by Mayor Pere Xirau Espàrrech, offers a seasonal business opportunity to the municipality’s vendors and guarantees the presence of traditional chestnut and sweet potato stalls during the Castanyada and All Saints’ Day, while regulating the use of public domain based on criteria of objectivity and competition.
