Canary Islands appoints ten career officials for Primary Care Pharmacy

The General Directorate of the Civil Service of the Government of the Canary Islands has appointed as career civil servants the ten individuals selected in the open access examinations for the Higher Facultative Body, Health Qualifications Scale, Specialty in Assistive Pharmacy (Group A, Subgroup A1), and has assigned them a workplace. The decision is detailed in the Resolution of August 12, 2026, published in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands number 170, of August 25, 2026, and signed by the general director, Francisco Javier Rodríguez del Castillo.

The process is part of the call approved by Resolution of November 29, 2023 (BOC no. 243, of 12.13.2023), whose list of selected candidates was made public via Resolution of April 29, 2026 (BOC no. 82, of 4.29.2026). The offer of positions was carried out according to the criteria for identifying vacant posts held by interim staff established in Resolution no. 3965/2024, of November 29.

The appointments

The ten appointed individuals, ordered by score, are:

• Nilaya Ayala Suárez (10.400 points), Cristina Angélica Álvarez Brito (9.904), Rosa Isabel Dorta Concepción (9.788), Pino Dolores Llamas Santana (9.785), Rita Rosa Castro Ávila (9.437), Diana Castro Rubio (9.333), Raquel García Méndez (8.689), Cecilia Mesa Méndez (8.581), Mariana Fajardo Morales (8.530) and María Irene Barreto González (8.280).

Assigned destinations

The majority of the positions are located in the Canary Islands Health Service, as public health inspector technicians in the area directorates of Tenerife, El Hierro, La Gomera, Lanzarote, La Palma, Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura, and Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Two positions correspond to the Canary Institute of Agri-Food Quality, in San Cristóbal de La Laguna, one of them as laboratory director.

Termination of interim staff and taking office

The resolution declares the termination of the interim civil servants who held the assigned positions numbers 17321, 17324, and 17326, with legal and economic effects on the day prior to the effective taking of office by the new holders. The taking of office must take place within a period of fifteen (15) calendar days from publication, extendable to one (1) month when it involves a change of residence locality; those who do not do so shall forfeit their right.

The appointment occurs within the maximum period of three months set by Article 11 of Law 2/2025, of June 26, on urgent measures for the reduction of temporary employment in the public sector, extended by one and a half months by Resolution no. 55/2026, of January 13. An administrative appeal may be filed against the resolution before the High Court of Justice of the Canary Islands within two months, or an optional appeal for reversal within one month.

Relevance

With this appointment, the Canary Islands consolidate stable public health employment by converting professionals who until now held positions under interim status into career civil servants, in line with the regional policy of reducing temporary employment. The filling of public health inspection positions across all islands reinforces the sanitary surveillance capacity of the Canary Health Service throughout the archipelago.
