Canary Islands allocate 58.5 million to training for the unemployed

The Canarian Employment Service has approved a call for grants amounting to 58,500,000 euros to finance training actions primarily aimed at unemployed workers included in the 2026 programming. The resolution, signed on August 13 by the President of the organization, Jéssica del Carmen de León Verdugo, is published in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands number 171, dated August 26, 2026, and is processed via an urgency procedure.

The call is governed by the regulatory bases approved by Order EFP/942/2022, of September 23, and Order TMS/368/2019, of March 28, within the framework of Law 30/2015, of September 9, which regulates the Vocational Training System for Employment in the labor sector. Purpose and beneficiaries

The grants are awarded on a competitive basis within the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands and finance Vocational Training and On-the-Job Training actions primarily aimed at unemployed persons. The following may apply for beneficiary status:

• Training entities, public or private, accredited or registered to provide training actions in the Canary Islands.
• Those offering professional certificates (Grade C) or training specialties from the Training Specialties Catalog of the National Employment System.
• Those providing training in face-to-face, asynchronous virtual, or tele-training modalities, as applicable.
• Those possessing, within the Canarian territory, duly accredited facilities for the delivery of face-to-face activities.

Amount and deadline

The approved expenditure amounts to 58,500,000 euros, charged to the budget credit allocated in the expenditure budget of the Canarian Employment Service for the 2026 fiscal year. The deadline for submitting applications will be 15 business days, counting from the day following the publication of the extract in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands.

Urgency processing

For reasons of public interest, urgency processing is applied to the grant awarding procedure, which reduces the deadlines established for the ordinary procedure by half. Deadlines relating to the submission of applications and appeals are excluded from this reduction.

The call represents a significant injection for the training fabric of the islands and for unemployed persons, who will see an expanded offer of professional qualification in a context of high employment demand. Interested entities have a limited window to submit their applications and must therefore act swiftly.
