Canary Islands announces a vacancy for Lyric Stage in execution of judgment

The Department of Education, Vocational Training, Physical Activity and Sports of the Government of the Canary Islands has published an order in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands (BOC no. 166, of August 19, 2026), dated August 6, calling for one position in the Lyric Stage specialty of the Body of Professors of Music and Performing Arts. The measure is adopted in execution of a final judgment from the High Court of Justice of the Canary Islands and opens an extraordinary period of 20 business days to submit applications.

The order modifies Order no. 115/2024, of March 1, which called for the exceptional selective stabilization procedure via the competition system for entry into the music teaching bodies, corresponding to the 2023 Public Employment Offer.

Judicial origin of the position

The omitted position was incorporated into the offer through Decree 196/2025, of December 23, approved in execution of a final judgment from the Administrative Litigation Chamber of the High Court of Justice of the Canary Islands, based in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, issued in ordinary procedure no. 0000278/2024. The ruling declared the obligation to include a position from the Body of Professors in the 2023 Public Employment Offer that had been omitted.

With this incorporation, the total number of temporary employment stabilization positions from 2016 increases from 70 to 71, with the following breakdown:

• 30 positions from the Body of Professors of Music and Performing Arts.
• 41 positions from the Body of Teachers of Music and Performing Arts.

The called position corresponds to the Lyric Stage specialty (state code 593025), in the open shift.

Extraordinary period and requirements

The order opens an extraordinary period of 20 business days, counted from the day following its publication in the BOC, for the submission of applications for participation in the Lyric Stage specialty. The opening of this period does not alter the governing rules of the selective procedure.

Applicants must meet the general and specific requirements demanded in the call as of April 12, 2024, inclusive, and maintain them until taking office as career civil servants. Only merits completed by that date, corresponding to the end of the ordinary application period for the 2024 procedure, may be claimed; subsequent merits will not be valued.

Registration fee and procedures

For applications submitted during this extraordinary period, base 5.1.1 of the 2024 order is modified regarding the registration fee, which will be the one corresponding to Subgroup A1 in effect for the 2026 fiscal year, set at 77.33 euros, in accordance with Law 9/2025, of December 23, of the General Budgets of the Canary Islands for 2026.

The order, signed by Councilor Hipólito Alejandro Suárez Nuez, leaves the remaining bases, annexes, and prescriptions of the 2024 call unchanged. An optional appeal for reversal may be filed against the resolution within one month, or a contentious-administrative appeal may be filed before the High Court of Justice of the Canary Islands within two months.
