Canary Islands announce 546,882 euros in grants for occupational risk prevention

The Government of the Canary Islands will allocate 546,882.28 euros to subsidize occupational risk prevention projects in companies across the archipelago during the 2026 fiscal year. The call, based on a competitive bidding process, is signed by the Minister of Tourism and Employment, Jéssica del Carmen de León Verdugo, and its summary is published in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands (Boletín Oficial de Canarias) no. 189, dated September 21, 2026 (announcement 3294). Interested entities have 10 business days to submit their applications.

The call is supported by Order TES/237/2026, of March 10, which approves the regulatory bases for the granting of subsidies, under a competitive bidding process, for the implementation of activities in the field of occupational risk prevention in accordance with Law 31/1995, of November 8, on the Prevention of Occupational Risks. The summary is published in accordance with articles 17.3.b) and 20.8.a) of the General Subsidies Law 38/2003, of November 17.

Who can apply and what is funded

Entities that carry out their activity in the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands and belong to any of these groups may apply for this line of aid:

• Trade union organizations.
• Sectoral and intersectoral business organizations.
• Associations of self-employed workers.

The purpose of the call is the granting of subsidies for projects aimed at carrying out activities in the field of occupational risk prevention in companies in the Canary Islands. Each applying entity or organization may submit a single project, and only one of them may be eligible for a subsidy.

Amounts and limits per project

The call establishes a closed economic framework, with a ceiling and a floor per application:

• Total allocation of the call: 546,882.28 euros.
• Maximum subsidy per project: 50,000 euros.
• Minimum subsidy per project: 10,000 euros.
• Subsidizable projects per applicant: one.

Deadline and method of submission

The deadline for submitting applications will be 10 business days starting from the day following the publication of the summary in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands, which places the closing date around October 5, 2026. The application must be submitted electronically, through the means available on the electronic headquarters of the Public Administration of the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands.

The submission of the application shall presume the express, formal, and unconditional acceptance of the regulatory bases and the call for applications. The announcement appears in section V, Other announcements, of the bulletin, under the heading of the Ministry of Tourism and Employment.

The call reinforces the role of trade unions, employers’ associations, and self-employed associations as active agents in the prevention of occupational risks within Canarian companies. With a maximum of 50,000 euros per project and a deadline of barely two weeks, the organizations of the archipelago have a short window to articulate and present their occupational health and safety proposals for the 2026 fiscal year.
