Canary Islands announce 4.7 million in grants for disability and dependency

The Ministry of Social Welfare, Equality, Youth, Childhood and Families of the Government of the Canary Islands has published the call for grants for the 2026 financial year intended for projects that promote the rights of people with disabilities and people in a situation of dependency. The call, approved by Order No. 839/2026, of August 18, is processed under a competitive bidding regime and is published in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands number 177, of September 3, 2026.

The order, signed by Minister María Candelaria Delgado Toledo, has a total credit of nearly 4.7 million euros distributed across four budget items of the General Budgets of the Autonomous Community for 2026. Purpose and beneficiaries

The grants will finance projects promoting the rights of people with disabilities, people in a situation of dependency, and their families and environment, within the framework of Law 16/2019, of May 2, on Social Services of the Canary Islands. The call is part of the department’s Strategic Grants Plan 2025/2027, updated by Departmental Order No. 500, of May 18, 2026.

Entities that meet the following requirements may apply:

• Be non-profit and have their own legal personality of a private nature.
• Be legally constituted and registered in the corresponding administrative registry.
• Carry out their activity within the scope of the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands.
• Be registered in the regional registry of collaborating entities in the provision of social services of the Canary Islands.
• Have purposes included in their statutes that are appropriate for the purpose of the grant, such as the promotion of the rights of people with disabilities, dependency care, early intervention, or universal accessibility.

Amount and distribution

The credit is divided among four budget lines that combine the promotion of accessibility and the provision of services:

• €179,255.00 for the promotion of accessibility for dependent people.
• €1,371,492.73 for benefits of the Dependency System.
• €2,961,965.57 for the care service for people with disabilities.
• €179,254.00 for the promotion of accessibility for people with disabilities.

Deadlines and submission

The application period will be 10 business days starting from the day following the publication of the call in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands, regardless of its publication in the National Grants Database. Applications must be submitted exclusively through the electronic office of the Government of the Canary Islands, completing one form for each project.

The maximum period to resolve and notify the awarding procedure may not exceed six months from the publication of the order, without exceeding the limit set by the Ministry of Finance and Relations with the European Union for the closing of the 2026 budget year.
