Canarias bonifica el combustible en La Gomera, La Palma y El Hierro

The Government of the Canary Islands will apply an extraordinary bonus of 0.20 euros per liter to the final price of gasoline and diesel in La Gomera, La Palma, and El Hierro during the fourth quarter of 2026. The measure is established by the Ministry of Finance and Relations with the European Union through an order published in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands (Boletín Oficial de Canarias) no. 197, dated October 1, 2026. The regulation enters into force on the day of its publication, effective from October 1.

The bonus stems from the sixty-ninth additional provision of Law 9/2025, of December 23, on the General Budgets of the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands for 2026, which approved extraordinary and temporary aid for the price of certain petroleum-derived fuels between February 1 and December 31, 2026.

The general criteria for determining the beneficiary islands and the amount are regulated in the Order of January 26, 2026. The selection is carried out by calendar quarters, comparing the average supply prices of G95 gasoline and GOA diesel of each non-capital island with the combined average of Gran Canaria and Tenerife.

The now-published order, signed on September 24, 2026, by Minister Matilde Pastora Asián González, specifies the result of that calculation for the months of October, November, and December.

Beneficiary islands and the amount

During the fourth calendar quarter of 2026, the bonus will be applied in three non-capital islands, with the same amount per liter supplied:

  • La Gomera: 0.20 euros per liter.
  • La Palma: 0.20 euros per liter.
  • El Hierro: 0.20 euros per liter.

Lanzarote and Fuerteventura are excluded from the aid during this period, as they did not exceed the required price differential relative to the capital islands.

The prices that determine the aid

The calculation is based on the average supply prices recorded between July 1 and September 15, 2026. The published data are:

  • La Gomera: G95 1.656 euros, GOA 1.747 euros, average price 1.701 euros and differential of 0.235 euros.
  • El Hierro: G95 1.638 euros, GOA 1.749 euros, average price 1.694 euros and differential of 0.228 euros.
  • La Palma: G95 1.614 euros, GOA 1.692 euros, average price 1.653 euros and differential of 0.187 euros.
  • Lanzarote: G95 1.459 euros, GOA 1.522 euros, average price 1.491 euros and differential of 0.025 euros.
  • Fuerteventura: G95 1.398 euros, GOA 1.446 euros, average price 1.422 euros and differential of -0.044 euros.
  • Gran Canaria: G95 1.407 euros, GOA 1.487 euros and average price 1.447 euros.
  • Tenerife: G95 1.440 euros, GOA 1.529 euros and average price 1.485 euros.
  • Combined average of Gran Canaria and Tenerife: G95 1.424 euros, GOA 1.508 euros and average price 1.466 euros.

Special treatment for La Palma due to the volcano

The regulation maintains an exception for La Palma. If the island is a beneficiary, the amount applicable between February 1 and December 31, 2026, will be the one immediately higher than what would correspond to it according to the general criterion, as compensation for the additional transport costs derived from the eruption of the Tajogaite volcano.

The order also invokes the principles of good regulation from Article 66 of Law 4/2023, of March 23, and is issued under Decree 107/2024, of July 31, which approves the Organic Regulation of the Ministry of Finance and Relations with the European Union.

Impact for residents

For residents of La Gomera, La Palma, and El Hierro, the measure represents a direct relief of 20 cents per liter of gasoline or diesel refueled until December 31, in a context where island prices are well above the average of the capital islands. The exclusion of Lanzarote and Fuerteventura confirms that the aid is recalculated every quarter based on actual supply prices.
