Canary Islands expand credit and deadline for cooperation grants

The Vice-Ministry of External Action of the Government of the Canary Islands has increased to 178,420 euros the credit allocated to grants to finance projects for global citizenship education and social transformation towards cooperation, and has extended the application deadline until September 8, 2026. This is detailed in the Resolution of August 10, 2026, an extract of which is published in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands number 169, dated August 24, 2026, in the other announcements section of the Presidency of the Government.

The measure, signed by Vice-Minister José Luis Perestelo Rodríguez, modifies the initial call processed under a competitive bidding regime and is published in accordance with articles 17.3.b) and 20.8.a) of the General Grants Law 38/2003, of November 17. Credit Increase

The first agreement of the resolution raises the initial credit assigned to the call to 178,420 euros, charged to the budget application 0634.143A.4800200, action line 064G1191 “Education for citizenship and social transformation in cooperation”.

Deadline Extension

The second agreement extends the application deadline until September 8, 2026, providing more leeway for interested entities to formalize their projects. The resolution specifies that this modification does not imply the start of a new period for resolution, and that it will take effect from the day following the publication of the extract in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands.

Recipients and Scope

The call is aimed at financing projects for global citizenship education and social transformation towards cooperation, an area of special interest for NGOs and social entities operating in the Canary Islands. The resolution was adopted in Santa Cruz de Tenerife on August 10, 2026, signed by delegation of Vice-Minister José Luis Perestelo Rodríguez in accordance with Presidential Decree 159/2019, of August 30 (BOC no. 172, of 6.9.2019).

The increase in credit and the extension of the deadline represent an opportunity for third-sector organizations to present their cooperation and awareness initiatives, in a context where the reinforcement of public funding is key to sustaining transformative education and international solidarity projects.
