Canarias amplía a 4,5 millones las ayudas a la vivienda joven

The Canarian Housing Institute has increased the available credit for the 2026 call for grants aimed at promoting home acquisition by young Canarians by 1,507,709 euros, bringing the total to 4,507,709 euros. The decision is formalized in the Resolution of September 28, 2026, by the Director of the organization, an extract of which is published in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands (BOC) no. 205, of October 14, 2026, in section V. Announcements, Other announcements, page 37086. The full text of the call can be consulted in the National Grants Database, with identifier BDNS 897362.

An additional expenditure of 1.5 million over the April call

The resolution, signed in Santa Cruz de Tenerife on September 28, 2026, by the Director of the Canarian Housing Institute, María del Pino de León Hernández, approves the additional expenditure and increases the credit assigned to the call approved by the Resolution of the organization’s Director of April 7, 2026, by one million five hundred seven thousand seven hundred nine (1,507,709.00) euros.

The resulting credit amounts to four million five hundred seven thousand seven hundred nine (4,507,709.00) euros, charged to budget application 4901.261D.7800200, PILA 197G0006 “Promotion of youth housing acquisition”. The publication of the extract is supported by articles 17.3.b) and 20.8.a) of the General Grants Law 38/2003, of November 17.

No new deadline for submitting applications

The agreement itself precisely defines the scope of the budgetary reinforcement, which does not alter the call’s calendar:

  • The increase in the economic allocation does not imply the opening of a new period for submitting applications.
  • Nor does it imply the start of a new count of the period to resolve the procedure.
  • Only applications submitted within the period established in the Resolution of April 7, 2026, will be taken into account.

The strategic plan already contemplated the new allocation

The budgetary reinforcement has its immediate precedent in the Order of September 24, 2026, by the Councilor for Public Works, Housing, and Mobility, Pablo Rodríguez Valido, published in the BOC no. 197, of October 1, 2026, page 35807. That order specifically modified Annex I of the Strategic Grants Plan of the Canarian Housing Institute for the 2024-2026 period and increased the allocation of the aid line destined for the promotion of youth housing acquisition.

Line 197G0006 “Promotion of Youth Housing Acquisition” is set at 4,507,709.00 euros, with a completion deadline until December 31, 2026, and financing provided by the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands. The modification received favorable report 26/00670 from the General Directorate of Planning and Budget and was processed in accordance with Decree 36/2009, of March 31, which establishes the general subsidy regime of the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands.

Relief for already registered applicants

The expansion increases the credit initially planned for this aid line by 50%, which seeks to facilitate access to home ownership for young Canarians with low income levels intended for their habitual and permanent residence. The practical effect is direct for those who already submitted their application on time: since there is more money available, a greater number of files will be able to receive the subsidy within the same call, without the need to repeat procedures or wait for a new process. The measure is part of the Canarian Housing Institute’s strategy to mobilize the housing market for sale and promote the independence of the archipelago’s youth population.
