Canarias abre el concurso general de traslados para docentes con efectos en 2027

The General Directorate of Personnel and Teacher Training of the Ministry of Education, Vocational Training, Physical Activity and Sports of the Government of the Canary Islands has announced the general transfer competition for non-university civil servant teaching staff of the archipelago. The call is published in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands no. 220, of November 4, 2026, by means of the Resolution of October 26, 2026 (document 3778), signed by the general director Mónica Ramírez Barbosa. The period for submitting applications and documentation will be open between November 5 and 26, 2026, both inclusive.

The resolution is issued in compliance with the sixth additional provision of Organic Law 2/2006, of May 3, on Education, and article 63 of Canarian Law 6/2014, of July 25, on Non-University Education, which generally reserves teaching positions for career civil servant teachers through the ordinary transfer competition system. Royal Decree 1364/2010, of October 29, modified by Royal Decree 677/2024, of July 16, obliges educational administrations to call these processes on a biennial basis; the previous Canarian call was Resolution no. 5548/2024, of October 28, 2024, whose destinations were definitively awarded in 2025.

The call is coordinated with the rest of the educational administrations and conforms to Order EFD/1041/2026, of September 30, which establishes the procedural rules for state-wide transfer competitions for the 2026/2027 academic year, and to the Agreement of the Personnel Commission of the Education Conference of September 25, 2026.

Twelve bodies called and up to 300 requests per applicant

The process covers civil servant personnel dependent on the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands in twelve teaching bodies:

  • Professors and Teachers of Secondary Education (511 and 590).
  • Professors and Teachers of Official Language Schools (512 and 592).
  • Professors and Teachers of Music and Performing Arts (593 and 594).
  • Professors and Teachers of Plastic Arts and Design (513 and 595).
  • Workshop Teachers of Plastic Arts and Design (596).
  • Technical Teachers of Vocational Training, body to be phased out (591).
  • Specialist Teachers in Singular Sectors of Vocational Training (598).
  • Primary School Teachers (597).

The application shall be completed solely electronically, one per body, and each participant may make a maximum of 300 destination requests ordered by preference. The call provides for voluntary and mandatory participation; in the case of voluntary participation, up to four civil servants of the same body may apply jointly, conditioned on obtaining a destination in centers within the same province.

Vacancies until December 31 and effects from September 2027

The offer of vacant positions will be determined by the Ministry and will include, at least, the vacancies that occur until December 31, 2026, in addition to those resulting from the competition itself. The provisional and final lists will be published on the Ministry’s website before the respective award resolutions, with a period of five days for allegations against the provisional vacancies.

The alleged requirements and merits must be met by the closing date for applications, while the minimum stay of two years since taking possession of the last definitive destination must be accredited before September 1, 2027, the date on which the resolution will take effect. Until that date, the awarded teaching staff will remain in their original centers until the essential activities of the 2026/2027 academic year are concluded.

Awarding, claims, and waivers

Following the provisional resolution, contestants will have ten business days to file a claim or to waive their participation. The final award will be published by the General Directorate of Personnel and Teacher Training, and the assigned positions will be non-waivable. Anyone who, being obliged to participate, does not obtain a definitive destination will remain in a provisional status and must participate in the award of provisional destinations for the 2027/2028 academic year and the next transfer competition.

An optional appeal for reversal may be filed against the resolution within one month or, directly, a contentious-administrative appeal within two months. On the same date and by parallel resolution (document 3779), the General Directorate announces the transfer competition for the Education Inspector Corps.

Impact on the staff of the next academic year

The call moves thousands of teaching civil servants from the islands and conditions the configuration of the staff and the vacancy map for the 2027/2028 academic year, as both the definitive awards and subsequent substitutions and transfers depend on it. The calendar is tight: applications close barely three weeks after publication, in a procedure in which merits not alleged on time cannot be invoked later.
