Canary Islands opens international business scholarships for young university graduates

The Vice-Ministry of Economy and Internationalization of the Government of the Canary Islands has approved the call for grants for the International Business Scholarship Program for the 2026 fiscal year, with an allocation of 2,500 euros per beneficiary. The extract of the Resolution of September 2, 2026 is published in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands (Boletín Oficial de Canarias) no. 187, dated September 17, 2026, within section V of announcements (announcement no. 3274, page 34817). Interested Canarian university graduates have 20 business days to submit their application.

The program depends on the Ministry of Economy, Industry, Trade and Self-Employed and is co-financed by the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+) Canary Islands 2021-2027. The regulatory bases were approved by the Order of February 6, 2024 (BOC no. 35, of 16.2.2024) and subsequently modified by the Orders of December 9, 2024 (BOC no. 248, of 13.12.2024) and July 15, 2025 (BOC no. 148, of 28.7.2025). The call is processed under a competitive bidding regime and is listed in the National Grants Database with the identifier 927619.

Requirements, purpose and amount

• Beneficiaries: young Canarians with a university degree.
• Purpose: training in business internationalization and investment attraction.
• Amount: 2,500.00 euros per scholarship recipient for theoretical training, consisting of University Master’s studies or an equivalent postgraduate degree in International Business.

The stated objective is to empower the young graduated population in international business through direct contact with foreign markets, as well as to create a network of international agents providing services to Canarian companies.

Deadline and submission of applications

The deadline for submitting applications is twenty (20) business days, counted from the day following the publication of the extract in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands, that is, from September 18, 2026.

All required documentation must be submitted mandatorily through the electronic office of the Public Administration of the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands, via the procedure enabled for this purpose.

Training entity and management

The Resolution of August 3, 2026 of the Vice-Ministry of Economy and Internationalization designated the European University of the Canary Islands (CIF B57257263), located in La Orotava, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, as the training entity of the program for the 2026-2028 call. The designation occurred following the public offer published via announcement on June 22, 2026 (BOC no. 133, of 3.7.2026), to which a single university applied.

The Assessment Committee evaluated the candidacies based on criteria regarding the curriculum, experience in online modality, employability, faculty excellence, and the use of technology (AI). PROEXCA acts as the collaborating entity in charge of managing the call for applications.

The extract is signed in Santa Cruz de Tenerife on September 2, 2026, by the Vice-Minister of Economy and Internationalization, Gustavo González de Vega, by delegation of the Order of October 5, 2023 (BOC no. 203, of 10.16.2023).

The call reinforces the Canarian Executive’s commitment to the internationalization of the productive fabric through specialized training for young graduates, a profile that the program itself identifies as key to meeting the demand for professionals in foreign trade and investment attraction. For university graduates from the Archipelago, the grant covers part of the cost of the master’s degree and opens a direct access route to foreign markets.
