Por FactBox Admin

Campo de Criptana busca juez de paz sustituto por cuatro años

The City Council of Campo de Criptana has opened the procedure to elect its new substitute justice of the peace, following the end of the previous office holder’s term. Interested parties have fifteen business days to submit their applications, according to the announcement published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Ciudad Real number 201, corresponding to Monday, October 19, 2026 (announcement number 3359, pages 9832 and 9833). The period is counted from the day following the publication of the edict in both the provincial gazette and the municipal notice board.

The announcement is based on Organic Law 6/1985, of July 1, of the Judiciary, and Regulation 3/1995, of June 7, regarding Justices of the Peace. The call is signed by the mayor, Santiago Lázaro López, in Campo de Criptana on October 16, 2026, and the document contains the Secure Verification Code +QPL851jZbLk9oS7UyQC.

The election corresponds to the Plenary of the corporation, which will submit the appointment proposal to the High Court of Justice of Castilla-La Mancha by absolute majority among the applications submitted. In the event that no candidate applies, the Plenary may choose freely, subject to the same procedural requirements.

The complete file is available to interested parties at the City Council Secretariat, where it may be examined.

Fifteen business days and submission of applications

Applications may be submitted in person at the Registry of the City Council of Campo de Criptana or by any of the means provided for in article 16.4 of Law 39/2015, of October 1, of the Common Administrative Procedure of Public Administrations, by means of a written request addressed to the Mayor’s Office. The application form will be available at the municipal offices and on the council’s website.

Applicants must provide their personal details and attach the following documentation:

  • Photocopy of the National Identity Document.
  • Curriculum Vitae.
  • Responsible declaration of being Spanish, of legal age, and not being subject to the causes of incapacity in article 303 of the Organic Law of the Judiciary, nor the incompatibilities and prohibitions of articles 389 to 397.

Requirements, incompatibilities, and duration of office

To hold the position, it is required to be Spanish, of legal age, and not to incur any of the causes of legal incapacity, including being physically or mentally impaired for judicial function, having been convicted of an intentional crime without rehabilitation, being prosecuted or indicted for an intentional crime without acquittal or a dismissal order, or not being in full exercise of civil rights.

The incompatibility regime prevents the holding of the position simultaneously with any other jurisdiction, with positions of popular election or political appointment, with jobs paid by public administrations, with jobs in courts and tribunals, with the practice of law and procuratorship, and with all types of legal advice, whether paid or not. It is compatible with teaching or legal research and with professional or commercial activities that do not involve legal advice. The substitute justice of the peace may not belong to political parties or trade unions, nor hold employment at their service.

The appointment shall have a duration of four years. The appointee must reside in the municipality where the Justice of the Peace Court is based, in this case Campo de Criptana, although the Governing Chamber of the High Court of Justice may authorize, for justified reasons, residence in another location, in accordance with article 17 of Regulation 3/1995.

Impact for residents

Filling the vacancy guarantees the continuity of the local judicial service in Campo de Criptana, where the Justice of the Peace Court assumes competencies in civil matters, civil registry, and assistance to the courts of the district. This call is added to others opened in the province in recent weeks, such as those of Luciana and Miguelturra, which have also published their justice of the peace renewal processes in the same provincial bulletin.
