Campo de Criptana opens the public hearing process to protect its Pósito

The Vice-Ministry of Culture and Sports of Castilla-La Mancha has opened the hearing process for the file declaring the Pósito de Campo de Criptana (Ciudad Real) as a Property of Cultural Interest, under the category of Monument, and delimiting its protection perimeter. The resolution is published via notification dated 10/07/2026 in the Official Gazette of Castilla-La Mancha (DOCM) no. 200, of October 19, 2026, with reference 2026/7400. The owners of three properties included in this perimeter have ten business days to appear and review the file.

A process published due to inability to notify

The Vice-Ministry resorts to publication in the gazette because individual notification was attempted and could not be carried out, in accordance with articles 44 and 46 of Law 39/2015, of October 1, on the Common Administrative Procedure of Public Administrations. The notified act is, precisely, the hearing process of the procedure.

The file is no. 250348 and its purpose is the declaration as a Property of Cultural Interest, under the category of Monument, of the Pósito de Campo de Criptana and the delimitation of its protection perimeter. The declaration was agreed upon through the Resolution of 06/09/2026, from the Vice-Ministry of Culture and Sports, published in DOCM no. 121, of June 29, 2026.

The text bears the signature of the Vice-Minister of Culture and Sports, Carmen Teresa Olmedo Pedroche, and is dated in Toledo on October 7, 2026. The processing body depends on the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports, and the publication is inserted in section III of the gazette, dedicated to other provisions and acts.

The three properties affected by the perimeter

The resolution places three properties in Campo de Criptana within the delimited protection perimeter, identified by their address, plot, urban block, and cadastral reference:

• Calle Tercia, 3: plot 01 of urban block 94198, cadastral reference 9419801VJ8691N.
• Plaza Pósito, 1: plot 09 of urban block 92197, cadastral reference 9219709VJ8691N.
• Plaza Mayor, 16: plot 08 of block 93198, cadastral reference 9319808VJ8691N.

Inclusion in the protection perimeter implies that any intervention in these properties is subject to the limitations that historical heritage regulations establish for the perimeter zones of a declared property.

Ten business days and appearance in Toledo

Interested parties may consult the full content of the hearing process by appearing in person at the Heritage and Archaeology Service of the Vice-Ministry of Culture and Sports, in Toledo, Bulevar del Río Alberche, 1st floor, s/n, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The deadline is ten business days starting from the day following the publication, that is, from October 20, 2026. If this period elapses without anyone appearing, the hearing process shall be deemed notified and will produce the appropriate effects, such that the procedure will continue its course without the need for a new personal communication.

The declaration affects one of the most recognizable buildings in the historic center of Campo de Criptana, a municipality whose constructions and silhouettes are part of its heritage identity. The delimitation of the surroundings extends protection beyond the main property and conditions the future of the adjacent estates on Tercia Street, Pósito Square, and Plaza Mayor; therefore, the affected owners have in this process their last opportunity to file objections before the declaration is finalized.
