Camariñas convoca o XXXIII Concurso Internacional de Xóvenes Diseñadores de Moda

The Camariñas City Council has approved the rules for the XXXIII International Young Fashion Designers Competition, which will be held during the XXXVI Camariñas Lace Exhibition between March 24 and 28, 2027. The Local Government Board gave the green light to the text on September 25, 2026, and the Official Gazette of the Province of A Coruña published it this Thursday, October 1, in issue number 188, under reference 2026/6318.

The competition, which is international in nature, aims to encourage and promote the application of Camariñas Lace in fashion. The call for entries awards four prizes among the best design collections, which must consist of four pieces in which Camariñas lace is applied to all parts; works with other lace or similar fabrics will not be admitted.

Four prizes and lace supplied by the organization

  • 1st prize: 2,100 euros, subject to legally established withholdings.
  • 2nd prize: 1,200 euros.
  • 3rd prize: 700 euros.
  • 4th prize: 500 euros.

The four awards will be announced on Sunday, March 28, 2027, and each finalist will receive a diploma accrediting their participation. Selected portfolios will also receive lace valued at 300 euros (VAT included), according to the catalog and rates set by the lace-makers’ associations of the municipality; the lace will be white cotton, although contestants may dye it.

The winning collections will remain in the possession of the Camariñas City Council for two years for presentation in fashion shows, exhibitions, and other events, always credited to the author.

Requirements: 18 to 40 years old and deadline until December 1

Designers of any nationality or country of residence who have not won the first prize in previous editions of the Exhibition may compete. Applicants must be at least 18 years old and not exceed 40 by December 31, 2027. Participation is individual or in groups of up to three members, who must designate a representative.

Students from design and tailoring centers, schools, and academies may also apply, as well as professionals in the sector who, while maintaining an employment or freelance relationship with a company, are not part of its design team, a circumstance that must be proven by sworn statement.

Each applicant will present a single collection via a DIN A4 dossier, with four original and unpublished designs, with free theme and modality (men’s or women’s fashion, excluding children’s). The deadline for submitting documentation ends on December 1, 2026, and the list of admitted portfolios will be published before December 23, 2026.

Jury and runway show

The jury will be composed of personalities from the world of fashion, and their appointment corresponds to the mayor, Sandra Insua Rial. The composition will be:

  • Presidency: one designer.
  • Vocals: up to 12 designers.
  • Secretariat: a public employee appointed by the Mayor’s Office, with voice but without vote.

The jury will assess the originality, creativity, and quality of the collection, both in design and in the application of the lace, and may leave any prize vacant. The finished pieces must arrive at the Camariñas City Council before March 19, 2027, at the Casa da Pedra (Praza Insuela, s/n, 15123 Camariñas). Those selected will parade on the Mostra runway from Thursday to Sunday, with an estimated maximum of two parades per day.

The call consolidates the Mostra do Encaixe as a launch platform for new design talents and reinforces the projection of Camariñas lace as a sign of identity and an economic resource for the municipality.
