Camargo subvenciona hasta 300 euros del carnet de conducir a jóvenes menores de 30 años

The Camargo City Council will subsidize up to 300 euros of the cost of obtaining a driver’s license for the municipality’s youth through the Camargo al Volante program, endowed with 55,000 euros. The call for applications was approved by the Local Government Board on October 28, 2026, and is published in the Official Gazette of Cantabria (BOC) number 214, dated November 6, 2026, with official reference CVE-2026-8634 and file SEC/2026/1045.

55,000 euros and a cap of 300 per applicant

The extract published in section 6 of grants and aid sets a total amount of 55,000 euros for the current call. Individual aid may not exceed 300 euros per application under any circumstances, and only one license or permit will be subsidized per applicant. For matters not expressly provided for, the call is governed by the General Grants Ordinance of the Camargo City Council, published in BOC number 176, dated September 11, 2012, and its full text can be consulted in the National Grants Database with the identifier BDNS 939191.

The program was already included in the list of nominative grants of the municipal budget published in the BOC on September 28, 2026, then with an allocation of 30,000 euros, an amount that the now-approved call increases to 55,000 euros.

Registered for one year and under 30 years old

Beneficiaries must meet the following requirements:

  • Be registered as residents in Camargo for a minimum of one year immediately preceding the application.
  • Not exceed 30 years of age at the time of submitting the request.
  • Not have previously received municipal aid to obtain any driving permit or license.
  • Be up to date with tax obligations and Social Security, and have no debts in the enforcement process with the City Council.
  • Not incur the prohibitions to be a beneficiary provided for in Article 12 of Cantabria Law 10/2006 and Article 13 of Law 38/2003.

The extract also incorporates evaluable circumstances that must be documented: unemployment status, via the DARDE or a certificate from the public employment service; large family status, with the official title from the Autonomous Community; and a disability equal to or greater than 33 percent, with a card, resolution, or certificate from the competent body. Residency registration and the absence of debts will be verified ex officio unless the applicant expressly opposes it.

From motorcycle to bus licenses, only in Camargo

The grant covers the costs of obtaining driving permits and licenses of the following classes:

  • Motorcycle or moped: AM, A1, A2, and A.
  • Car: B and B+E.
  • Truck: C1, C, C1+E, and C+E.
  • Bus: D1, D, D1+E, and D+E.
  • Special permits: LVA and LCM.

Only expenses corresponding to permits obtained between August 1, 2025, and July 31, 2026, will be eligible for subsidies, and they must have been paid to a driving school located in the municipality of Camargo. Justification requires an invoice issued to the beneficiary specifying the type of license and the period of services, in addition to the bank proof of payment or, if paid in cash, a receipt or payment certificate from the driving school.

One month to submit the application

Applications, addressed to the Mayor’s Office-Presidency and formalized using the standardized model in Annex I, may be submitted at the General Registry of the City Council or through any of the means provided for in Law 39/2015. The deadline is one month from the publication of the summary in the BOC, that is, until December 6, 2026. The agreement appears signed in Camargo on October 30, 2026, by the mayor-president, Diego Movellán Lombilla.

The call comes in a context of rising costs for road training and dependence on private vehicles in the municipalities of the bay area, where the public transport offer conditions access to employment and studies. With 55,000 euros and a cap of 300 euros per youth, the Camargo City Council assumes part of the cost of the license for the population under 30 years of age, although the maximum amount covers only a fraction of the usual price of a Class B license.
