The General Directorate of Industry, Energy and Mines of the Regional Ministry of Industry, Employment, Innovation and Trade has summoned the owners of the assets affected by the undergrounding project of the Maliaño-Iris power line in the municipality of Camargo for the drawing up of the records prior to the occupation of their properties. The summons is published in the Official Gazette of Cantabria number 167, dated August 31, 2026, by means of the resolution with reference CVE-2026-6782.

The act will take place on September 23 at 10:00 AM at the Camargo Town Hall, and will be communicated to the interested parties through the appropriate summons notice. The prior administrative authorization, the construction authorization, and the declaration of public utility of the facilities were granted by resolution of the General Directorate dated April 23, 2026, published in the Official Gazette of Cantabria number 85 and in the Official State Gazette number 110, both dated May 6, 2026.

The declaration of public utility is based on articles 54, 55, and 56 of Law 24/2013, of December 26, on the Electricity Sector, and on chapter V of title VII of Royal Decree 1955/2000, of December 1. Said declaration implies the necessity of occupying the affected assets and rights and entails their urgent occupation for the purposes of article 52 of the Law of December 26, 1954, on Compulsory Expropriation, and its Regulation, approved by Decree of April 26, 1957.

They may be accompanied, at their own expense, by an expert and a notary if they deem it appropriate.

In the expropriation proceedings, Viesgo Distribución Eléctrica, S.L. will assume the status of beneficiary. The resolution, signed in Santander on August 21, 2026, by the general manager José Luis Ceballos Pereda, will be subject to additional publication in accordance with Article 44 of Law 39/2015, of October 1, on the Common Administrative Procedure, for cases of unknown owners or those with an unknown address.

Relevance for residents

The undergrounding of the Maliaño-Iris line represents a decisive step in removing the medium-voltage overhead lines from the Camargo landscape and improving the safety and reliability of the electricity supply in the area. For the affected owners, the appointment on September 23 is the procedure that establishes the occupation rights and future compensations; therefore, it is recommended to attend with the required documentation.
