Camargo aporta 120.000 euros a los recursos educativos de catorce centros

The Camargo City Council will provide up to 120,000 euros to reduce the cost of books and curricular materials for families in the municipality, under the cooperation agreement with the educational resources program for basic education for 2026. The Ministry of Education, Vocational Training and Universities of the Government of Cantabria ordered its publication through the Resolution of September 23, 2026, disseminated in the Official Gazette of Cantabria number 187, of September 29, 2026, with reference CVE-2026-7481.

A municipal contribution of 120,000 euros

The agreement was signed in Santander on September 22, 2026, by the Minister of Education, Vocational Training and Universities, Sergio Silva Fernández, appointed by Decree 7/2023, of July 7, and by the mayor-president of the Camargo City Council, Diego Movellán Lombilla, authorized by the Municipal Plenary in the session of June 25, 2026. The Governing Council had previously authorized the signing in its session of September 3, 2026, in accordance with article 9.2 of Law 10/2006, of July 17, on Subsidies of Cantabria.

The second clause establishes a municipal subsidy with a maximum amount of 120,000 euros, charged to the budgetary application 320.480.00 of the 2026 municipal budgets. The amount will be distributed proportionally among the students of each participating center and will be paid via an advance of 100% of the planned amount, without requiring a guarantee or bond.

Fourteen participating centers

The centers supported by public funds in the municipality that may receive the aid, provided they participate in the program, are:

  • IES Muriedas
  • IES Ría del Carmen
  • IES Valle de Camargo
  • CEIP Agapito Cagiga
  • CEIP Arenas
  • CEIP Gloria Fuertes
  • CEIP Juan de Herrera
  • CEIP Mateo Escagedo Salmón
  • CEIP Matilde de la Torre
  • CEIP Pedro Velarde
  • CEE Parayas
  • C.C. Altamira
  • C.C. Sagrada Familia
  • CC Fundación Laboral de la Construcción (Revilla)

The contribution will be used exclusively to reduce the amount that participating families must provide, with the goal of achieving free access by the end of the agreement. The subsidy is compatible with other aid, income, or resources from any administration or public or private entity, national, European Union, or international.

Justification, monitoring and validity

Each center must justify the aid to the City Council by March 31, 2027, at the latest, through a justification account, in accordance with Article 31 of Law 10/2006 and Article 72.3 of Royal Decree 887/2006, of July 21. The documentation shall include the number of enrolled students receiving the aid, a copy of the school council’s agreement on the final contribution per student, and an activity and financial report with a breakdown of funding sources, invoices, and a responsible declaration. Failure to provide justification within the deadline will result in the revocation and reimbursement of the grant.

For monitoring purposes, a commission will be established consisting of two representatives from the Ministry of Education, Vocational Training and Universities and two appointed by the Camargo City Council, to whose sessions representatives of the beneficiary school centers may be invited. Its validity begins with the signature and its effectiveness extends throughout the year 2026.

The framework of the agreement consists of the orders regulating the educational resources program for basic education: Order ECD/87/2016, of July 21, Order ECD/104/2016, of August 16, and Order ECD/74/2018, of June 22, whose Article 4 provides for the participation of local entities. The agreement is further supported by Law 6/2008, of December 26, on Cantabrian Education, and Organic Law 2/2006, of May 3, on Education.

The measure directly affects the pockets of families with children schooled in Camargo, as it reduces the contribution for books and curricular materials in compulsory education and reinforces the equity of the system in the municipality’s public and chartered centers. The proportional distribution among the students of each center and the full advance payment ensure that the aid arrives at the start of the school year without the centers having to advance their own funds.
