Calp announces the 2026 Sports Awards with 6,300 euros across seven prizes

The Calp City Council has published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Alicante number 163, dated August 28, 2026, the call for the granting of the Sports Awards, included within the Calp Sports and Culture Gala, corresponding to the year 2026. The call is processed under a competitive bidding regime and has a budget of €6,300.00, distributed across seven awards, with a deadline for submitting applications of fifteen (15) business days.

The announcement, identified in the National Grants Database (BDNS) with number 926587, is published in accordance with articles 17.3.b and 20.8.a of the General Grants Law 38/2003, of November 17. The full text can be consulted in the BDNS, and the regulatory bases were definitively approved in the BOP of Alicante number 151, dated August 12, 2026.

Purpose and modalities

The purpose of the call is to highlight the different sporting modalities and recognize the merits and trajectory of those who have excelled in the sporting field, provided they have been registered as residents in Calp for at least two years prior to the publication. The alleged merits must correspond to a period of up to twenty (20) months prior to the call.

The modalities provided for in the regulatory bases are:

  • Outstanding athlete.
  • Outstanding duo.
  • Outstanding team.
  • Most outstanding player with functional diversity.

In the granting of awards, a balanced distribution between women and men will be sought, so that neither sex exceeds 60% nor is less than 40% of the total awardees, provided there are sufficient candidacies.

Amount and distribution of awards

The budget credit amounts to €6,300.00, charged to budget line 4547/3411/4810000 and free text “Sports Awards (EXT/SUP 03)”, through credit retention number 220260009062. Seven awards are established with a decreasing scale:

  • First prize: €1,500.00.
  • Second prize: €1,200.00.
  • Third prize: €1,100.00.
  • Fourth prize: €1,000.00.
  • Fifth prize: €500.00.
  • Sixth prize: €500.00.
  • Seventh prize: €500.00.

The prizes will be paid by bank transfer, with the corresponding IRPF (Personal Income Tax) withholding, and each participant may receive a single prize.

Submission and evaluation

Applications may be submitted at the Municipal Citizen Service Offices (OAC) of the Calp City Council or through any of the channels specified in article 14 of Law 39/2015. Local sports clubs registered in the Registry of Associations, independent athletes, and athletes invited by the Department of Sports or proposed by the Municipal Sports Council may apply.

The assessment will be carried out by the Valuation Commission, composed of the Consell Municipal d’Esports, which will evaluate the clarity of the report, achievements in local, regional, national, and international competitions, participation in the Xarxa Esportiva de la Marina Alta (XEMA) school league, and the contribution to the promotion of women’s sports. The six candidacies with the highest scores will receive the first six prizes, and the seventh will be chosen by consensus among those not awarded.

Relevance

The call reinforces the public recognition of local sports and gender equality in the sporting arena, and represents a direct opportunity for athletes and entities in Calp. The names of the winners will remain confidential until the day of the Sports and Culture Gala, where the awards will be presented in a public ceremony.
