Por FactBox Admin

The Local Government Board of the Calamonte City Council has approved the annual update of the public price for the provision of the early childhood education center “Colorín”, which is set at 200 euros per month for the schedule with entry at 7:30 a.m. and exit at 3:30 p.m. The new amount will apply from September 1, 2026, as stated in Notice 3221/2026, published in issue 154 of the Official Bulletin of the Province of Badajoz, corresponding to Thursday, August 13, 2026.
The agreement was adopted at an ordinary session held on August 5, 2026, in exercise of the competence for the approval of public prices delegated by the Plenary of the Corporation on May 23, 2008. The decision is based on article 47 of the consolidated text of Law 2/2004, Regulating Local Finances, and on articles 24 and following of Law 8/1989, of April 13, on Fees and Public Prices.
A public price that is reviewed every year
The update is part of the annual review of the public price of the early childhood education center (0-3 years) “Colorín”, the municipal first-cycle early childhood service provided by the Calamonte City Council. According to the notice, the amount is established in the following terms:
- 200.00 euros per month per student for the schedule from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
- Entry at 7:30 a.m. and exit at 3:30 p.m.
- Application from September 1, 2026, coinciding with the start of the school year.
The published text does not detail other time slots or discounts, so the reference amount for families with children from 0 to 3 years old is the one indicated.
Legal framework and procedure
The approval is processed as an annual modification of the public price, in accordance with the legal regime for fees and public prices. The grounds cited in the notice are:
- Article 47 of the consolidated text of Law 2/2004, of March 5, Regulating Local Finances.
- Articles 24 and following of Law 8/1989, of April 13, on Fees and Public Prices.
- Delegation of the power to approve public prices by the Plenary of the Corporation, of May 23, 2008.
The agreement ends the administrative route, so against it may be filed the appeals provided for in the regulations of the local regime and common administrative procedure.
Appeals against the agreement
Interested parties may optionally lodge an appeal for reconsideration with the Local Government Board within one month from the day following publication, or alternatively file a contentious-administrative appeal directly with the competent Contentious-Administrative Court. The notice cites, for this purpose, articles 52.1 of Law 7/1985, of 2 April, regulating the Bases of Local Government; 123 and 124 of Law 39/2015, of 1 October, on the Common Administrative Procedure of the Public Administrations, and 8.1, 25.1 and 46.1 of Law 29/1988, of 13 July, regulating the Contentious-Administrative Jurisdiction.
The notice is signed by the Mayor-President of the City Council, Dolores María Enrique Jiménez, and is published for the general knowledge of the residents of the town in Badajoz.
Impact on families
The update of the monthly price of the “Colorín” center directly affects the pockets of families in Calamonte with children aged 0 to 3, an educational stage in which the public supply of places is often insufficient for existing demand. With its entry into force on 1 September, the monthly cost per student will be set at 200 euros, a fact worth taking into account when planning work-family reconciliation for the next school year.
