Calamonte begins ex officio removals from the census due to improper registration

The Calamonte City Council (Badajoz) has initiated the ex officio deregistration procedure for improper registration in the Municipal Register of Inhabitants against seven residents who appear as registered in the municipality and whose whereabouts are unknown. The decision is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Badajoz number 160, dated Friday, August 21, 2026, through announcements 3321/2026, 3325/2026, and 3334/2026, signed by the mayor, Dolores María Enrique Jiménez.

The affected parties have a period of ten days, counting from the day following the publication, to appear, state whether or not they agree with the deregistration, and present any allegations, documents, and justifications they deem appropriate.

Regulatory Framework

The procedure is based on Article 72 of the Population and Demarcation Regulations for Local Entities (Royal Decree 1690/1986, of June 11), which empowers the City Council to ex officio deregister those who appear as registered while failing to meet the requirements of Article 54 of the same regulation, following verification in the file and a hearing with the interested party.

As personal notification has proven impossible for reasons not attributable to the Administration, in accordance with Articles 40 to 46 of Law 39/2015, of October 1, on the Common Administrative Procedure, the publication in the gazette serves as individual notification. Additionally, the technical instructions of the Presidency of the INE and the General Directorate of Territorial Cooperation regarding the management and review of the register are applied.

The Affected Parties and Their Addresses

The announcements affect people registered at three different addresses in the municipality:

• Meylin del Socorro Soza Arauz, passport no. C*****706, at calle Badajoz, no. 82 (announcement 3321/2026).
• David García Caballero (DNI 09*****7B), Coraima Mármol Pavón (DNI 78*****1K), David García Mármol, and Aysel García Mármol, at calle Moreno Nieto, no. 38, 1st floor (announcement 3325/2026).
• Lidia del Carmen Castillo Avila (passport E*****26) and Yodilmar Rosbelis Perdomo Briceño (NIE Z00****47X), at calle Badajoz, no. 15, 1st floor (announcement 3334/2026).

Deadline and Allegations Process

In all cases, it is considered that the interested parties do not reside at the address where they appear as registered and their whereabouts are unknown, a circumstance that motivates the ex officio deregistration. The ten-day period to appear and formulate allegations is calculated from the day following the publication of the announcements in the provincial gazette.

The publication is carried out “for the knowledge of the interested parties, to whom it shall serve as individual notification,” such that the expiration of the deadline without a response will allow the City Council to process the final deregistration.

Impact for Residents

Removal from the municipal register has direct consequences on rights and services linked to residency, such as access to municipal services, proof of address, or certain administrative procedures. Affected individuals who consider their registration to be correct must submit appeals within the specified period to avoid losing their status as registered residents in Calamonte.
