Cadalso initially approves its forest fire prevention ordinance

The Cadalso City Council has initially approved the Municipal Ordinance regulating Forest Fire Prevention, by agreement of the Plenary adopted on September 3, 2026. The announcement is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Cáceres number 172, dated September 9, 2026, and opens a thirty-day public information period for interested parties to examine the text and submit allegations.

The processing complies with articles 49 and 70.2 of Law 7/1985, of April 2, Regulating the Bases of Local Government, and article 56 of the Revised Text of Local Government. The agreement bears the signature of the mayor-president, Francisco Ignacio Rodríguez Blanco, and is identified with the official reference CVE BOP-2026-4208, published on page 20737 of the gazette.

Public information period and allegations

The thirty-day period begins to count from the day following the insertion of the announcement in the provincial gazette. During this period, any interested party may examine the file at the municipal offices and formulate the claims and observations they deem appropriate.

The text is also available to residents through the council’s electronic office, at the address https://cadalso.sedelectronica.es/info.0. If no claim is submitted within the specified period, the approval agreement will be understood as definitively approved without the need for further processing.

Who is affected by the new regulation

The ordinance establishes a forest fire prevention regime that directly impacts the activities and obligations of residents and landowners in the municipality:

• Property owners, obliged to maintain plots in conditions that reduce the risk of ignition and propagation.
• Farmers and livestock breeders, whose practices and burnings are subject to the limitations and authorizations set by the regulation.
• Residents in general, regarding the cleaning of plots, safety strips, and the use of fire in the forest environment.

A municipality of high forest risk

Cadalso is located in an environment of high vulnerability to fires, which justifies the adoption of specific preventive regulation. The municipal ordinance adds to the regional and state framework for fire protection, adapting general requirements to the particularities of the municipal district.

The definitive approval, once the public information process is exhausted, will provide the City Council with its own regulatory instrument to demand compliance with prevention measures and, where applicable, sanction non-compliance. For residents and landowners, the regulation implies new obligations for maintenance and land management that should be known before it comes into force.
