Cabildo de Gran Canaria opens 150,000 euros in aid for film and series
The Excmo. Cabildo Insular de Gran Canaria has opened a call for subsidies under competitive bidding for a total amount of 150,000 euros, aimed at the development of feature films and series and the production of short films in fiction, documentary and animation on the island. The resolution, published in BOP de Las Palmas number 98 of 17 August 2026, establishes a period of 20 calendar days for submitting applications starting from the day following the official publication.
The initiative, supported by articles 17.3.b and 20.8.a of Law 38/2003, of 17 November, General Subsidies Law, responds to the objective of boosting the Canary Islands audiovisual sector and fostering the creation of cultural heritage on the island. Origin and competent authority
The call was approved by means of Resolution CGC/2026/8839, of 7 August 2026, issued by the Minister of Culture, Guacimara Medina Pérez, by virtue of the delegation of the Insular Government Council, in accordance with the agreement adopted on 2 December 2024. The regulatory bases comply with the General Subsidies Ordinance of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria.
Beneficiaries and purpose of the aid
The subsidies are aimed at:
- Companies and self-employed workers in the audiovisual sector that meet the requirements of clause five of the call.
- Producers of feature films, series and short films in the categories of fiction, documentary and animation.
- Audiovisual professionals based on the island of Gran Canaria.
The purpose of the aid is to contribute to the cultural development of Gran Canaria and to the creation of heritage through the different forms of audiovisual expression, providing the sector with greater financial capacity to boost its productions.
Submission deadline and procedure
The deadline for submitting applications is 20 calendar days from the day following the publication of the call in the BOP de Las Palmas (17 August 2026).
