Córdoba announces three vacancies for Civil Engineer in the open competition category

The Córdoba City Council has approved the guidelines for the permanent selection of three Civil Engineer positions, through a competitive examination system (concurso-oposición) in the open category, belonging to the Public Employment Offer (OPE) for 2024 and 2025. The call is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Córdoba number 162, dated August 21, 2026, with the official reference BOP-A-2026-2918.

The resolution, signed by the Deputy Mayor Delegated for Human Resources and Occupational Health, was adopted by Decree No. 2026/14038, of August 17, 2026, and represents a total cost for the 2026 fiscal year of 87,402.35 euros. The positions are called for career civil servants, within the Special Administration Scale, Technical Subscale, Senior Technician Class, with remuneration from Group A, Subgroup A-1.

Positions and Requirements

The three vacancies are distributed between the council’s two public employment offers:

• OPE 2024: position codes 15 and 3459.
• OPE 2025: position code 16.

To participate, applicants must meet, among others, the following requirements:

• Hold Spanish nationality or comply with the provisions of the Basic Statute of Public Employees.
• Hold a University Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering (Caminos, Canales y Puertos) or an equivalent degree.
• Possess the functional capacity to perform the tasks of the position.
• Be at least 16 years old and not exceed the maximum compulsory retirement age.

Selection System

The process combines two phases: the Merit (Concurso) phase, with a weight of 30%, and the Examination (Oposición) phase, with 70%. The merit phase is carried out through a self-assessment of merits and is non-eliminatory, while the examination consists of three eliminatory exercises:

• First exercise: a questionnaire of 100 questions with four alternative answers, in a maximum of 120 minutes.
• Second exercise: written development of two randomly selected topics, with a public reading before the tribunal.
• Third exercise: resolution of a practical case in a maximum of 180 minutes.

Submission of Applications

Applications shall be submitted electronically through the electronic office of the Córdoba City Council, within a period of twenty business days starting from the day following the publication of the summary of the call in the Official State Gazette (BOE). The payment of the examination fee will be carried out in accordance with Fiscal Ordinance No. 100, with exemptions for the unemployed, people with a disability equal to or greater than 33%, and members of large families, among others.

The call for applications represents a significant opportunity for senior technicians in the province, as it consolidates high-qualification positions within the local administration of Córdoba.
