Cáceres concede la Medalla de la Ciudad 2026 al restaurante Atrio por su 40 aniversario

The Plenary of the Corporation of the Most Excellent City Council of Cáceres, in an ordinary monthly session held on October 15, 2026, agreed to award the 2026 Medal of the City of Cáceres to the «Atrio Relais & Châteaux» Restaurant on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of its opening in the city. The agreement is made public in the Official Gazette of the Province of Cáceres No. 208, dated Thursday, October 29, 2026, Section I – Local Administration, page 24558, with the official reference CVE BOP-2026-5055.

A plenary agreement with three mandates

The announcement reproduces the agreement adopted by the Plenary and organizes it into three points, according to the text published by the City Council of Cáceres:

  • First: to award the 2026 Medal of the City of Cáceres to the «Atrio Relais & Châteaux» Restaurant on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of its opening in the city.
  • Second: to publish the award in the BOP and notify the interested parties, summoning them to the award ceremony convened by the Most Excellent City Council of Cáceres.
  • Third: to register the awarded title in the Book of Honors and Distinctions of the City of Cáceres.

The document is dated Cáceres, October 23, 2026, and is signed by the Secretary General, Juan Miguel González Palacios. The publication is ordered, according to the announcement itself, “for general knowledge.”

The regulatory framework: the Regulations of Honors and Distinctions

The publicity of the agreement is supported by Article 23 of the Regulations of Honors and Distinctions of the city of Cáceres, approved and published in the BOP of Cáceres No. 221, dated November 16, 2018. This regulation governs the processing, publication, and registration of municipal distinctions, and is the same one invoked in the rest of the council’s honor files.

In fact, BOP No. 208 also includes an announcement of the initiation of a file to name a city road, processed via Article 20 and following of the same regulation, with a one-month period for public information (CVE BOP-2026-5056). The difference in procedure is substantial: the naming of streets requires prior public exhibition, while the award already adopted by the Plenary is limited to being published.

Two medals in the same plenary session

The distinction for Atrio is not the only one approved in the session of October 15, 2026. One day before the publication of this announcement, BOP No. 207, dated October 28, 2026, reported the award of the 2026 Medal of the City of Cáceres to the «San Pedro de Alcántara» Blood Donor Brotherhood, “for its altruistic work in promoting blood donation to the Blood Bank of Extremadura” (page 24432, CVE BOP-2026-5031). The text of both announcements is identical in its operative part.

The two grants therefore share the same origin—the same plenary agreement—and the same registry destination: registration in the Book of Honors and Distinctions of the City of Cáceres, the instrument where municipal honorary titles are recorded.

What remains pending

The agreement leaves the delivery act expressly open. It is the responsibility of the Cáceres City Council to convene the ceremony and summon the representatives of the distinguished restaurant, as the published announcement does not set a date, place, or format for that summons. Nor does the text detail the composition of the establishment’s representation that will be summoned.

Closing

The City Medal is the highest recognition granted by the Cáceres council, and its award to a restaurant for four decades of activity places the business and hospitality trajectory on the same honorary plane as that which the city reserves for social and solidarity entities, such as the brotherhood of donors recognized on the same day. For readers, the announcement serves as the official record—published, notified, and registered—of a recognition that until now only existed as a plenary agreement, and establishes in the Book of Honors and Distinctions the documentary reference of the 40th anniversary of Atrio in Cáceres.
