The City Council of Cáceres has definitively approved the budget modification file under the modality of Extraordinary Credit No. 01/2026, allocated with 1,305,000 euros. The approval is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Cáceres this Thursday, August 13, 2026, with the official reference BOP-2026-3832, in Section I of Local Administration.

The file was initially approved by the Plenary of the Corporation in an ordinary session held on July 16, 2026, and its initial approval was published in the BOP of Cáceres number 136, of July 20, 2026. Once the allegations period elapsed without any being submitted, the modification has been elevated to final through the announcement signed on August 11, 2026, by the second deputy secretary, Fidela Romero Díaz.

A credit financed with treasury surplus

The operation modifies the General Budget of the City Council for the 2026 financial year without resorting to new debt. In accordance with article 36.1 a) of Royal Decree 500/1990, the financing is carried out through Liquid Treasury Surplus for general expenses, for a total amount of 1,305,000.00 euros.

The file affects five budget items of the municipal budget:

  • Grant to the University of Extremadura: €1,000,000.00 (item 13/320/753).
  • Acquisition of two vehicles for the Local Police: €120,000.00 (item 12/132/624).
  • Acquisition of two vehicles for the Infrastructure Service: €90,000.00 (item 15/1532/624).
  • Grant to Gowvo Connection & Events SL: €70,000.00 (item 20/341/479).
  • Acquisition of one vehicle for the Building Service: €25,000.00 (item 14/15100/624).

The municipal accounts, in detail

The largest budget item of the credit, one million euros, corresponds to the nominal grant to the University of Extremadura, which accounts for more than three quarters of the total. The rest is distributed among the municipal fleet renewal: two vehicles for the Local Police (120,000 euros), two for the Infrastructure Service (90,000 euros) and one for the Building Service (25,000 euros), along with the grant of 70,000 euros in favor of Gowvo Connection & Events SL.

The amounts and the affected budget items appear in the accounting documents attached to the file, to which the announcement published in the provincial gazette is referred.

Appeal period

Against the agreement, and by virtue of article 171 of Royal Legislative Decree 2/2004, of 5 March, approving the consolidated text of the Law Regulating Local Finances, interested parties may directly file a contentious-administrative appeal in the manner and time limits established in articles 25 to 42 of Law 29/1998, of 13 July, regulating the Contentious-Administrative Jurisdiction.

The definitive approval of Extraordinary Credit 01/2026 consolidates a €1.3 million reinforcement in the municipal accounts of the Cáceres capital, financed with the savings accumulated by the City Council. The subsidy to the University of Extremadura and the renewal of vehicles for the Local Police and municipal services are the main beneficiaries of an operation that closes without objections and without increasing debt, in a fiscal year marked by budgetary restraint.
