Cáceres opens the application period for grassroots sports grants with 185,000 euros

The Cáceres City Council has announced grants for the development and promotion of sporting activity in the city during the 2025/26 season, specifically for so-called grassroots sports, with a budget of 185,000 euros. The call was approved by Resolution of the Mayor’s Office on September 17, 2026, and is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Cáceres No. 0183, dated September 24, 2026, via the summary announcement (BOP-2026-4426) and the full text of the guidelines (BOP-2026-4429). Interested clubs and sporting entities have a period of ten business days from the day following the publication of the summary.

The procedure is processed under a competitive bidding regime, in accordance with Article 9.2 of Law 38/2003, of November 17, General Law on Subsidies, and the General Subsidy Ordinance of the Cáceres City Council, published in BOP No. 184, of September 27, 2017. The aid line is listed in the 2026 Strategic Subsidy Plan of the Department of Sports, published in BOP No. 095, of May 21, 2026, aimed at associations, clubs, and other entities competing in grassroots categories with athletes aged 6 to 19 and people with disabilities regardless of age.

Two modalities of aid

The eligible activities are divided into two modalities:

• Modality A: aid to sporting entities for the participation of their athletes in competitions or activities of individual modalities, including individual performance tests, combat, direct confrontation, pairs, and group events.
• Modality B: aid to entities that register teams in official competitions with a mandatory regular league system, at a national, regional, or provincial level.

Both modalities are incompatible with each other and are also incompatible with other grants from the Cáceres City Council for competitions of the same season. In no case are coaches, technicians, assistants, or personnel accompanying the athletes subsidized.

Requirements, categories, and evaluation

Legally constituted and federated sporting entities with headquarters in the municipality of Cáceres may be beneficiaries and, if they are non-profit, registered in the Registry of Entities of Municipal Interest, provided they do not fall under the prohibitions of Article 13 of the General Law on Subsidies.

The age categories range from pre-benjamines or initiation, aged 6 and 7, to juveniles and juniors, aged 18 and 19. Athletes with physical, psychic, or sensory disabilities may exceed these age limits and are included in modality A with their improvement coefficient.

The allocation is decided by a point-based competition:

• Criterion A, number of recipients: up to 500 points.
• Criterion B, difficulty of executing the activity without the grant: up to 400 points.
• Criterion C, promotion of gender equality: up to 100 points.
• Criterion D, sporting excellence based on results in official championships: up to 300 points.

Processing, payment, and justification

Applications must be submitted electronically via the Electronic Office of the Cáceres City Council, using standardized forms 500, 501, and 502. The instructing body is the Department of Sports, and the proposed resolution corresponds to a collegiate body presided over by the Delegate Councilor for Sports, with two municipal technicians as members and the Second Vice-Secretariat of the Corporation as secretary. The maximum period for resolution and notification is three months from the end of the application period, with a negative administrative silence.

Payment is made in two halves: the first 50% upon granting of the subsidy and the second 50% once the expenditure has been justified. The justification must be submitted before March 1, 2027, with the possibility of a one-month extension if justified.

The call is financed from budget item 20/341/48900, with credit retentions of 92,500 euros for 2026 (document 220260008637) and 92,500 euros for 2027 (document 220269000142), according to the audit report of the Municipal Comptroller dated September 1, 2026. The extract is signed by the Councilor for Sports, Noelia Rodríguez Campos, and the announcement of the rules by the second vice-secretary, Fidela Romero Díaz.

The impact of this call is direct on the local sporting fabric: grassroots clubs in Cáceres have stable funding to cover federation expenses, refereeing, travel, equipment, and insurance for a full season, and its granting depends on objective criteria regarding licenses, gender equality, and sporting results.
