Por FactBox Admin

Cáceres abre a información pública su plan contra incendios forestales

The Plenary of the Most Excellent City Council of Cáceres initially approved, in an ordinary monthly session held on October 15, 2026, the Municipal Action Plan against the risk of forest fires in the City of Cáceres. The agreement is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Cáceres (BOP) number 0201, corresponding to Tuesday, October 20, 2026, in Section I of Local Administration, and submits the document to public consultation for 30 business days for the submission of claims and suggestions.

Initial approval and opening of the period

The announcement, found on page 23813 of the gazette with the official reference BOP-2026-4889, details that the initial approval is adopted in accordance with the provisions of Article 49 of Law 7/1985, of April 2, Regulating the Bases of the Local Regime. The public exhibition period begins to count from the day following the publication of the announcement, that is, from October 21, 2026.

During this period, any interested person or entity may submit any claims and suggestions they deem appropriate regarding the content of the plan. The full text of the document will be available to interested parties on the Electronic Notice Board of the City Council of Cáceres, as specified in the announcement itself.

Effects if there are no allegations

The announcement clearly establishes the administrative effect of the procedure: if no claims or suggestions are submitted during the indicated period, the plenary agreement will automatically be elevated to final. In other words, the initial approval becomes final without the need for a new pronouncement by the Plenary.

Otherwise, the corporation must resolve the allegations raised before giving final validity to the planning instrument. The announcement was signed in Cáceres on October 16, 2026, by Mr. Juan Miguel González Palacios, Secretary General of the council, and is verifiable through the official portal of the provincial gazette.

Regulatory framework for prevention

The plan is integrated into the civil protection planning system for emergencies. At the regional level, the reference standard is Law 10/2019, of April 11, on Civil Protection and Emergency Management of the Autonomous Community of Extremadura, which organizes local planning instruments and their registration in the regional registry.

Added to this is Decree 32/2023, of April 5, which regulates the Registry of Civil Protection Plans of the Autonomous Community of Extremadura and establishes the structure, minimum content, and approval regime for these instruments. Municipal plans are also integrated into the Special Civil Protection Plan against Forest Fires of Extremadura (INFOCAEX) and the Territorial Civil Protection Plan of Extremadura (PLATERCAEX).

A wave of plans in the province

The processing in Cáceres is not an isolated case. In recent weeks, the BOP has published agreements of similar content from several town councils in the province that have completed the approval of their own municipal action plans regarding the risk of forest fires, including those of Villamiel, Mesas de Ibor, Rebollar, Salorino, and Casas del Castañar.

These municipalities justify the preparation of the document based on the mandate of INFOCAEX, which determines which localities are required to have their own plan depending on the level of danger. The stated objective in all cases is to ensure the effective and coordinated intervention of local resources in the event of a forest fire emergency.

Impact for residents

The approval of the plan directly affects the residents of the Cáceres capital, as it organizes the municipal structure, material and human resources, and the action protocols for a forest fire. The period now open is the final opportunity for individuals, groups, and entities to submit observations before the document is finalized.
