Cáceres abre 50.000 euros en ayudas para campeonatos deportivos nacionales

The Cáceres City Council has announced grants on a competitive basis for federations and entities that organize sports championships of national category or higher in the city during 2026. The call was approved by Resolution of the Mayor’s Office-Presidency on September 18, 2026, and is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Cáceres number 0189, dated October 2, 2026, in Section I - Local Administration. The abstract appears under reference BOP-2026-4572 (pp. 22395-22397) and the full text of the guidelines under reference BOP-2026-4573 (p. 22398 and following).

Regulatory and Budgetary Framework

The call is supported by Article 9.2 of the General Subsidies Law 38/2003, of November 17, and by the municipal competencies for the promotion of sports under Article 25.2.l) of the Law 7/1985, of April 2, Regulating the Bases of Local Regime. The procedure is governed by the General Subsidies Ordinance of the Most Excellent City Council of Cáceres, published in BOP number 184, dated September 27, 2017.

The aid line is listed in the 2026 Strategic Subsidies Plan of the Department of Sports, published in BOP number 095, dated May 21, 2026, and responds to the designation of Cáceres as the European City of Sport 2026. The file includes a report from the Municipal Comptroller dated September 15, 2026, and credit retention number 220260008693.

  • Total allocated amount: 50,000.00 euros, charged to budget item 20/341/48900.
  • Maximum grant per entity: 8,000.00 euros for the sum of its applications.
  • Maximum number of eligible competitions per entity: two throughout the 2026 fiscal year.
  • Identification of the call in the National Subsidies Database: BDNS 931853.

What is subsidized and who can apply

Official Spanish Championships or higher, events belonging to them, and non-official championships in which the national team of any modality participates will be eligible for subsidies, provided they take place in Cáceres between January 1 and December 10, 2026. Competitions of the same modality held on the same date or on consecutive dates are counted as a single event.

Eligible beneficiaries may include legal entities, groupings without legal personality, and non-profit entities and associations domiciled in Cáceres and registered in the Register of Associations of Municipal Interest. Exceptionally, and with a justifying report, foreign or non-registered entities will be admitted when the activity is of social, economic, or humanitarian interest. Entities subject to the prohibitions of Article 13 of the General Subsidies Law are excluded.

Eligible expenses must be incurred between January 1 and December 15, 2026. Protocol expenses, gifts, cash prizes, inventoriable assets, interest, penalties, or recoverable taxes will not be financed. The grants are incompatible with other municipal lines for the same activity, although they are compatible with funds from other administrations up to the total cost of the project.

Deadlines, evaluation, and amounts

Applications must be submitted within 15 business days from the publication of the summary in the BOP, mandatory via electronic means through the Electronic Office of the City Council of Cáceres (sede.caceres.es), using the standardized forms Annex I to Annex IV. The Evaluation Committee consists of the Delegated Councilor for Sports as president, two municipal technicians as members, and the Second Deputy Secretary as secretary.

The scoring system distributes up to 50 points: 25 for sporting importance and social impact, 20 for the number of participants, and 5 for the duration of the event. The resulting aid is scaled according to the score:

  • 50 points: 8,000.00 euros.
  • Less than 50 and at least 45 points: 7,000.00 euros.
  • Less than 45 and at least 40 points: 6,000.00 euros.
  • Less than 40 and at least 30 points: 5,000.00 euros.
  • Less than 30 and at least 20 points: 4,000.00 euros.
  • Less than 20 points: 3,000.00 euros.

The resolution is the responsibility of the Mayor-President, with a maximum period of three months from the closing of applications and a negative administrative silence. The justification of the activity must be submitted by December 15, 2026, and beneficiaries are obliged to disseminate the Cáceres European City of Sport 2026 logo and the legend “in collaboration with the Most Excellent City Council of Cáceres”.

Impact on Extremaduran sport

The call opens a direct financing route for clubs, federations, and organizing entities that wish to host high-level competitions in the capital of Cáceres during the year of its designation as European City of Sport. The limit of 8,000 euros per entity and two championships per fiscal year conditions the planning of the organizers, who have barely 15 business days to formalize their application and an expense calendar that closes on December 15, 2026.
