Burgos distributes 1.5 million for sports facilities in 16 municipalities

The Governing Board of the Provincial Institute for Sport and Youth of Burgos approved on September 15, 2026, the final resolution of the call for grants for the new construction, expansion, repair, or conservation of municipal sports facilities. The resolution, endowed with 1,500,000 euros, is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Burgos no. 183, of September 25, 2026 (cve BoPBur-2026-04010), and distributes aid among 16 local entities with a population equal to or greater than 1,000 inhabitants and less than 20,000.

The agreement is certified by the secretary general, José Luis M.ª González de Miguel, and was adopted in an ordinary session of the Governing Board of the autonomous body dependent on the Provincial Council of Burgos. The budget for the call is 1,500,000 euros (base 3.1) and is divided into two population groups, with 750,000 euros for each.

Beneficiaries initially receive 60% of the requested investment, in order of score and until the budget limit is exhausted, and must provide the remaining 40% (base 3.2). This percentage is adjusted when its application exceeds the maximum grantable amount (base 3.5). The payment is charged to application 3420/76200/11.7 of the Institute’s budget.

Group A: eleven municipalities of up to 2,000 inhabitants

Group A, for local entities between 1,000 and 2,000 inhabitants, exhausts its 750,000 euros with eleven projects:

• Belorado: new construction of a paddle tennis court, 89,578.56 euros (file 24958H).
• Espinosa de los Monteros: replacement of the perimeter railing and installation of swing gates at the municipal football field, 12,650.23 euros (24982L).
• Melgar de Fernamental: side enclosures for a paddle tennis court, 12,798.16 euros (25006C).
• Condado de Treviño: paddle tennis court and municipal gym, 193,860.17 euros (24974B).
• Quintanar de la Sierra: repair of the open-air fronton, 24,147.83 euros (25014M).
• Villadiego: improvement of the irrigation system and the playing surface of the football field, 55,345.72 euros (24993F).
• Ibeas de Juarros: lighting of the football field, 81,926.09 euros (24984K).
• Merindad de Río Ubierna: gym room in the Sotopalacios station complex, phase 1, 200,000 euros (25009T).
• Arcos de la Llana: cover for a paddle tennis court, 34,534.17 euros (244957V).
• Villalbilla de Burgos: repair and conditioning of a tennis court, 19,232.29 euros (25005L).
• Pradoluengo: repair and improvement of the municipal sports center, 25,926.78 euros (25010R).

Group B: five municipalities of more than 2,000 inhabitants

Group B distributes another 750,000 euros among five localities:

• Briviesca: renovation of the court pavement and repair of the heating installation of the municipal sports center, 200,000 euros (24959L).
• Medina de Pomar: repair of the facilities of the heated swimming pool, 47,330.76 euros (25004H).
• Valle de Mena: artificial grass 11-a-side football pitch at the municipal sports center of Villasana de Mena, 200,000 euros (24991M).
• Lerma: renovation of the annex to the municipal football field with infill-free artificial turf, 200,000 euros (24999J).
• Villarcayo: modernization and improvement of accessibility at “El Soto” football field, 102,669.24 euros (25008E).

Reserves, deadlines and appeal process

The resolution dismisses the allegations presented by the City Council of Villagonzalo Pedernales and establishes an order of reserves to cover any vacancies that may occur. Group A includes Villagonzalo Pedernales (stands at the football field, 114,816.87 euros, 25003V) and Cardeñajimeno (new construction of a paddle tennis court, 51,949.57 euros, 24960C); in Group B, Roa de Duero (repair of the Los Nogales sports center, 116,199.93 euros, 24988W) and Alfoz de Quintanadueñas (expansion of the sports center locker rooms, 200,000 euros, 249711P).

Beneficiary entities required to do so must submit a certified execution project, along with the rest of the supporting documentation, within two months following the publication of the final resolution. Against the agreement, which ends the administrative process, an optional appeal for reversal may be filed before the Governing Board of the Institute within one month, and a contentious-administrative appeal may be filed before the Contentious-Administrative Court of Burgos within two months, counting from the day following publication.

The call mobilizes 1.5 million euros in provincial funds, which translate into concrete works in 16 municipalities: paddle tennis courts, football fields, fronton courts, gyms, and swimming pools managed by the city councils. For the residents of these towns, the resolution means the financing of 60% of each action and the start of projects that the councils must complete with the remaining 40% of the investment.
