Botarell calls for five grants to cover the remaining 30% of the school canteen
Por FactBox Admin

The Botarell City Council has announced five individual and complementary school canteen grants for the 2026-2027 academic year, aimed at students of the C.E.I.P. Mare de Déu de la Candela. The call is detailed in the Mayoral Decree of October 16, 2026, signed by Mayor Montserrat de Anciola Moragas, and was published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Tarragona on October 22, 2026 (CVE 2026-09702, pp. 1-3). The grants cover the remaining 30% of the service cost not assumed by the Baix Camp County Council, which provides 70%.
The call is based on the regulatory bases approved by the City Council Plenary on June 17, 2026, and published in full in the Official Gazette of the Province of Tarragona on October 5, 2026 (CVE 2026-08925), following 30 days of public exhibition without objections. These bases were also published in the Official Gazette of the Generalitat de Catalunya no. 9706, of July 13, 2026. The initiative originates from the Department of Social Rights and Health and falls within the municipal competencies of article 25.2.e of Law 7/1985, of April 2, regulating the bases of the local regime.
Five grants to complete the 70% county funding
The purpose of the call is to grant five individual grants, complementary to those awarded by the Baix Camp County Council, so as to cover the remaining 30% of the canteen cost for the five students who, meeting the requirements, obtain the highest score in the assessment of their socioeconomic conditions. The stated objective is to guarantee all meals for these children in situations of need.
The amount is calculated based on the maximum daily price set by the Department of Education at 7.83 euros per student per day, VAT included, in accordance with Resolution EDF/483/2026, of February 20. The 30% assumed by the council is equivalent to 2.349 euros per student per day, and the total amount is determined based on the school days with canteen service, up to a maximum of 177 days.
The grants are financed through budget application 231 – 480.14, “School canteen grants,” of the 2026 municipal budget. The consolidation of the grant is foreseen, up to a maximum of 53 days, when the 70% county funding is also awarded under this regime.
Requirements and selection scale
Beneficiaries must meet the following conditions:
- Be enrolled at C.E.I.P. Mare de Déu de la Candela in Botarell, in any course of the second cycle of early childhood education or primary education, during the 2026-2027 academic year.
- Not have the dining service on a mandatory and, therefore, free basis.
- Not be in residential care.
- Have obtained an individual grant of 70% of the service cost from the Consell Comarcal del Baix Camp.
- Request the remaining 30% grant from the Botarell City Council.
- Make effective use of the school dining service and comply with the criteria of the guidelines.
Selection is not carried out using its own scale: the City Council requests from the Consell Comarcal del Baix Camp the list of applicants classified by score according to the regional scale, and grants the five grants to the first people on the list. In the event of a tie, the order is resolved by lottery.
Processing, publication, and payment
The application must be submitted by the legal representative of the student, as they are minors between three and twelve years old. Official forms are available at the City Council and on the municipal electronic notice board. The published extract does not fix the submission deadline, which the guidelines refer to the call for applications; it does establish a deadline of five business days to correct deficiencies and another five business days to present allegations to the grant proposal.
Payment is not made to the families: since the management of the dining hall corresponds to the Consell Comarcal del Baix Camp, the City Council pays the grant directly to the service contracting company, which acts as a collaborating entity and processes the list of actual days of use monthly. The grants are compatible with partial grants from the Consell Comarcal, provided that the maximum price of the service is not exceeded.
The full call for applications can be consulted in the National Grants Database, with identifier BDNS 935962, in compliance with articles 17.3.b and 20.8.a of the Law 38/2003, of November 17, general on grants.
With five places for a single center, the call is a small but sensitive piece within the Baix Camp dining grant system: it acts as a safety net for families who are left halfway, with 70% covered but without the margin to pay the rest, and prevents the student from losing the service for economic reasons.
