Bolvir finally launches the archaeology and augmented reality project at the Castellot

The Bolvir City Council has granted final approval to the experimental archaeology and augmented reality project for the Republican-era gate of the Castellot de Bolvir, a key heritage and tourism initiative for Cerdanya. The announcement was published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Girona (no. 163, edict 7506, dated August 25, 2026, CVE BOP-2026_0_163_7506, p. 1-1).

Final Approval

The project was approved by Mayoral Decree no. 2026DECR000774, dated August 17, 2026. Since no claims or allegations were submitted during the public information period, it has been elevated to final status and published for execution, in accordance with Article 38 of Decree 179/95, of June 13, which approves the Regulations for works, activities, and services of local entities.

A Heritage and Tourism Initiative

The initiative combines experimental archaeology and augmented reality to enhance the Republican-era gate of the Castellot de Bolvir, a reference site in the region. The proposal seeks to make historical heritage accessible and attractive through new technologies, with the dual objective of conservation and tourism revitalization of Cerdanya.

Appeals and Deadlines

The edict, signed by Mayor Isidre Chia Trilles in Bolvir on August 20, 2026, outlines the means of challenging the resolution, which concludes the administrative process:

• Appeal for reversal (recurso de reposición) before the same body, within one month from the day following publication.
• Contentious-administrative appeal before the competent body, within two months if no reversal appeal is filed, or six months if the reversal appeal is presumed to have been dismissed.

With the final approval, the project becomes executable and opens the door to the implementation of an action that strengthens the heritage and tourism offering of Cerdanya, combining historical research and technological innovation.
