Bienvenida calls for the election of titular and substitute Justice of the Peace
Por FactBox Admin

The City Council of Bienvenida has opened a ten-business-day window for interested parties to apply for the positions of titular and substitute Justice of the Peace, ahead of the upcoming renewal of the post. The call is signed by the mayor-president, Alejandro Cabeza Rubio, via a Mayoral proclamation published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Badajoz No. 189, dated October 2, 2026, under reference Announcement 3847/2026. The selection of candidates is the responsibility of the City Council Plenary.
The proclamation reminds that the Corporation’s Plenary is the competent body to elect the persons who will be appointed as Justice of the Peace, both titular and substitute, in application of articles 101 and 102 of Organic Law 6/1985, of July 1, of the Judiciary, and articles 4 and 5.1 of Regulation 3/1995, of June 7, of the Justices of the Peace. The text justifies the call on the grounds that “the period relating to the renewal of the titular Justice of the Peace position is approaching,” so the Council is anticipating the search for candidates to fill the titular and substitute roles in the municipality.
Ten business days and two submission methods
Applications must be addressed in writing to the Mayor’s Office and submitted within the ten-business-day period established by the proclamation. The municipal regulation allows for two registration methods:
- The entry registry of the Bienvenida City Council itself.
- The procedure provided for in article 16.4 of Law 39/2015, of October 1, of the Common Administrative Procedure of Public Administrations.
The general application form is available to interested parties at the Corporation’s municipal offices, where they may be submitted within the established deadline.
Requirements, duration, and remuneration of the position
The file may be examined at the City Council Secretariat, where interested parties can obtain precise information regarding the required requirements, the duration of the term, and the remuneration, among other conditions. The documentation will also be available on the municipal electronic office.
If no applications are submitted
The proclamation warns that, in the event that no applications are submitted, the Corporation’s Plenary will choose freely, in accordance with the provisions of article 101.1 of Organic Law 6/1985, of July 1, of the Judiciary and articles 4 and 6 of Regulation 3/1995, of June 7, of the Justices of the Peace. The resulting agreement will be communicated to the Court of First Instance of the district.
The call directly affects the residents of Bienvenida who meet the legal requirements and are willing to assume a local judicial function, with competencies in civil, criminal, and civil registry matters within the municipality. The ten-business-day period therefore marks the actual window for community participation before the Plenary resolves the appointment and forwards it to the corresponding judicial body.
